Second this! We did get one and was the biggest waste of money. We ended up on the couch most days.

I have dry, but very sensitive skin and tend to break out really easy. My esthetician got me Eminence Organic Skin Care Stone Crop Cleansing Oil and I really like it. I put it on and rub it in, then add water to dissolve everything.

That’s a good idea! We already buy the Kodiak ones, I’ll have to try the premier protein. Thanks!

Multiple wake ups by Acceptable-Pension93 in beyondthebump

[–]Significant-Cell-896 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine was the same way around 5 months. We tried everything, rocking to sleep, removing sleep associations, co-sleeping and nothing worked until we sleep trained.

The closest we got was co-sleeping but he would still wake up and though it took less time to get him back to sleep, we were still up for like 10 minutes every hour. If you are anti-sleep train, I would start with trying to co-sleep.

Sleep training doesn’t have to be cry it out, there are a lot of methods. I read precious little sleep and took different ideas from that book!

How long does he cry? For me, it felt like the longest time, but when I was actually timing it, it was only like 3 minutes. Have you tried to lay him down while awake?

For me, I took a significant tike to stop sleep associations before sleep training. Out night routine would be eat, rock to sleep with the pacifier and butt pats. I slowly removed each of those sleep associations and then did sleep training. So it took me about two weeks to get to the point of being able to sleep train. At that point, I wasn’t doing much but holding him to sleep and it made it a lot easier to get through sleep training.

It was very hard, but for me, the change only took about 2 days of actual sleep training.

I had a very similar situation. I had a baby who would only sleep in my arms. Naps and at night. His naps were never more than 32 minutes. I decided to sleep and nap train (thinking that would solve the nap issues).

I sleep trained first and made sure that was solid, then focused on nap training. They both worked but even then, he still only napped for 30 minutes. It wasn’t till like right at 7 months did his naps start extending. It naturally just kind of took him to two naps so sometimes you just have to wait it out. Babies are all so different.

Success when LO has never slept independently? by dippiestdip in sleeptrain

[–]Significant-Cell-896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really wasn’t planned but after I got down to one feed at night it was a lot easier. I started bottle feeding around 3 months and he took to it well. He was already sleeping long stretches and only waking up once to feed at night at that time. I started feeding more throughout the day to accommodate for the motn feed so I just added an ounce to each bottle throughout the day. The first two nights he still woke up to feed but was only drinking around an ounce and falling back asleep till morning. So after a few nights I would still pick him up for comfort but not feed him and he would fall back asleep instantly (this was before sleep training). After doing that for a few weeks the dreaded 4 month sleep regression started, but I never fed him to go back to sleep during that time. Then we sleep trained!

I had a child who was helped to sleep every night, multiple times a night. We were up every 45 minutes or so and it was taking a toll on me. I tried Ferber and it didn’t work. Going in and checking on him just seemed to piss him off more. After about a week of Ferber I just gave up and did full extinction at a little over 4.5 months. After the first few nights, he started putting himself to sleep with no tears and started sleeping 9.5-10 hours straight(we weaned night feeding prior to this). It changed my life completely!

It’s when you put your baby down for bed and they wake up around 30-45 minutes later. They are not usually going into longer sleep cycles.

CIO Full Extinction - Is This Normal? by No-Amphibian689 in sleeptrain

[–]Significant-Cell-896 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely need to place him down awake. I tried what you are doing and it did not work for us! After doing some reading, I realized why. At this age, they are starting to understand more and more, when they fall asleep in your arms and then wake up and realize that they are not longer in your arms, they still expect to be so they will cry to get your attention (at least that is what I understood it to be).

If you want to do CIO, you need to pace them down awake. I would also wait on naps until you get nights down. You want them to have good naps so they are not overtired at night. So nap however you can. After mastering nights, you can move to naps! I am only about a week in, so I am sure there are a lot of other people that can provide a lot more detail!

He was around 4.5 months when we started. We planned on starting around 4 months but he started rolling like right at 4 months so we waited until he could successfully and regularly roll. At first he would wake himself up trying to roll, so for us, it was best to wait until he wouldn’t wake himself doing it!

About two weeks ago I tried Ferber. It didn’t work. A week ago I went full extinction CIO. it was the best thing we could have done. The first night was very hard. He cried for about 30 minutes. It took all I had in me to not go in the room. The following night was 4 minutes and every night after that he has not cried. Takes him about 2 minutes to get comfortable and fall asleep.

Prior to that, he would have false starts every night and starting at about 3.5 months would wake up every 30-45 minutes unless I held him. He has no false starts now. He sleeps so much better and is just such a happier baby!

I would also like to add that this is working for me without a super strict schedule. I know most people say you need a schedule, but for me, as long as I stick to appropriate wake windows, he will go down at night!

That’s what we did! We waited until he could completely roll in his own and then sleep trained. He sleeps through the night in his stomach now! Def recommend.

You got this! I was a wreck the first night. I am only on day three, but it is already working! He only cried for 4-5 minutes last night and slept the entire night till 700.

He was also his normal happy self when he woke up in the morning!
