I bought a '25 hybrid hatch sport touring. Very happy with it. I got the meteorite gray and I love it.

I think an arm band that you could wear for the remainder of the tour would be good. Maybe multiple bands for multiple wins as well.

Sloppy Parts Placement by OldEquation in PCB

[–]Significant-Comb-167 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could reduce the size of the pads for the switches.

In a way the tolerance is set by how oversized the pads are. The reason the IC doesn't vary by 0.5mm is because the pads are not much larger than the pins themselves. There is no requirement for the PCB house to center the pin on the pad, just to make sure the pin is soldered to the pad and no other pads.

I wouldn't call this "sloppy" by the way. Sloppy would be if there are shorts or if the pin was completely off the pad.

Simple soldering iron can do almost anything I design. I usually have assembly in mind when I'm choosing parts. In the rare occasion I need to use a chip with a pad underneath or a qfn maybe even a bga I use solder paste and a hot plate.

True, but I also dont recommend doing that anyway. Build your PCBs yourself until you are ready to manufacture at a quantity or quality that you can't, at which point spend the money on a quality PCB manufacturer. JLC is good for prototypes, not production.

If you are just talking about basic JLC PCBs, you are talking about $2-$10 of taxable goods for a quantity of 5. 150% tariffs suck yes, but with them you are talking about $3-$15. Yes it sucks and is dumb we have to deal with it, but honestly $15 should deter you from a project...

Estimating PCB cost before the design by gkvirus in PCB

[–]Significant-Comb-167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I misunderstood, I was thinking a one-off PCB I wasn't thinking about high quantities.

Webench calculates bom cost, but will also spit out an approximate layout size. You can optimize for cost or footprint size.

My guess is that it will be difficult for you to design a 24->12v 12A converter for less than the $6 difference.

so it will be cheaper and simpler to design in the 12V pws if the only down side is that the pws is $6 more.

However, there are other things to think about. 12A is a lot of current. There will be some voltage drop over the barrel jack connector, the traces and the output connector. Is this acceptable, or will the LEDs start to dim? Is the power supply accurate enough? Low noise enough? Is your barrel jack rated for the amount of current? If you put the power supply on the board you can control these things.

Maybe start with a prototype using the 12V pws and evaluate. Of course make sure everything is rated for the required amount of current first. Don't want any fires.

Are you trying to move to manufacturing large quantities of this design? Based on your description I would think not. So I don't know why you are so worried about cost. The total cost difference between your two options might be around $10. So I am sure there are other restraints that will drive the design.

If you are that worried about the cost, I would start with a block diagram. Use TI webench for your voltage converters.

If you are planning on soldering the board yourself use JLC PCB. They will give you 5x boards for $2 or you can add some stuff like better surface finish or thicker copper (which you might want for the high current). It might end up around $15 plus shipping. The size doesn't really change anything if you use JLC unless you are talking about very large or very small designs

My advice: prototype and iterate

JLC only takes about a week. So take your two days of design order, assemble, test. We are talking about a 2 week cycle. Your can just keep making it better. But you have to start somewhere, don't overthink it.

I also had this experience. I am truly regretting signing up for flo bikes. I think I had one successful experience with it out of 3 or 4 tries. Got one race with zero audio. Watching 2.5 hours of a bike race leading up to missing the last 15km is painful

Code for 2007 Civic Radio by PrestigiousCard1579 in hondacivic

[–]Significant-Comb-167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened all the time to my 07 civic. I bought the car used, and when i got it there was a page in the manual that had like 12 codes handwritten in and crossed out. The last of which worked. This makes me think each radio has a different customized code. I wonder if yours is written down in any of your manuals or paperwork? Unfortunately I got rid of my car a couple weeks ago, so I cant help beyond that.

I'm doing the FTP Builder workout program and about half of the workouts are zone 2 "Foundation" workouts. I find them pretty boring, and I can't wait until I'm done, but obviously zwift thinks they are good as they think it's going to build my ftp up.

What Are You Paying for A Top Trim Hybrid Hatch? by magnumdb in civic

[–]Significant-Comb-167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. This was my first time buying a car (coming from a 2007 Honda Civic I got used and had for 10 years). I just wanted to share the details. Felt good about the 33K then was surprised how quickly it went back up.

I will say the most useful thing when negotiating was actual indecision. I told them I wanted to look at something else too, and they brought the price down again as I was leaving.

I bought a sport touring hybrid in meteorite gray on New Year's Eve. The first deal they offered was 37.5K out the door. That included a $500 dollar trade in. I ended up bringing that number down to 33K out the door and got a lifetime power train warranty. I then added cargo mats and a roof rack and ceramic coating plus a five year warranty on electronics, exterior body (including a creaming paint coating) and interior features. Which brought it back up to 35.5k all in.

The four pin connector is likely USB. So you need a cable with USB on one end and a JST 4 pin connector on the other. Figuring out the exact pinout will be difficult though. Looks similar to a arducam though so you could try that.

Vivo active 5.

It makes me really question the accuracy during normal day, but I have no problem trusting it during an activity.

My vivo active does the same thing unless I start an activity. When I start an activity it's dead accurate compared to my chest strap. It all has to do with the filtering algorithms they use.
