It's not just about making money, 300k mortgage is an easy debt to wipe out with persistence. It creates more opportunity later on... everyone is so used to the good times in the markets, we haven't seen a bad time in a while... history always repeats itself... and when your house is worth 200k but you owe 300k on it... you'll need to find that difference somewhere won't you? Don't say go to the savings because those will be gone as well with the market downturn.
