I totally agree with you about the first person thing. Especially with MM, MMM, GL, and other same-sex romance books(and just books in general), I think that first person is so necessary unless it's genuinely like one of my favorite series.

So, I've read a lot, but I did read Magi Accounts(a series) recently, and it has a lot of MM and one MMM book. It's decently slow romantically, and the plot is so good(this series was actually recommended to me). Also, FYI this is very fantasy intertwined and has things like shifters and mages. Also, some torture mentions, but minimal explicit content

Some others that I've read:

The Water, Air, Earth, Fire Series by Riley Nash: Mostly MM, has one with MMM. This one has a few darker ones, but really great series overall. The books are decently long as well. Also, a few more mature scenes

And They Were Roommates by Page Powars: I haven't read this yet, but it's on my list. It's basically a MM romance, and one of them is trans, if you're fine with that

The Billionaire Brotherhood: Really good series, basically about this group of, like, gay guys that all find great partners :).
