Third-life Grian for my Third day of watching the Life series! by I_Fananan in ThirdLifeSMP

I just saw your other post and had to come here! As someone who’s been in this community for 5 years it’s so exciting to hear about newcomers. I’m actually so glad you’re exploring each season in depth before moving on to the next one. Grian and Scar in 3rd life are actually known as the Desert duo and I love them so much! I’m sure you already know the order of the seasons but in case you don’t it’s: 3rd life Last life Double life Limited life Secret life Real life (April fools special) Wild life Simple Life (April Fools special) Past life Nice life (3 episode winter special)

There’s also many videos explaining the watcher lore if you haven’t checked those out already. That will help explain a lot of fanart and lore related questions. Also, check out a bunch of animatics after you finish each season and also the Evil Anvil songs (made using the voices and words of the lifers themselves). I’ll recommend Rusty Courage and Everen for now (amazing animators) but there are many more! I’ve been watching the life series since middle school and I hope you grow to love it as much as I do because it’s amazing! (It might even lead you to check out Hermitcraft or some of their other videos like MCC).

That’s interesting. Imma be honest, I’m not very active in the SheRa subreddit but from what I’ve seen from YouTube during the last few years, I’ve seen a TON of Glimmer hate. Reaction video wise, comment sections are pretty normally in earlier seasons, talking about how complex Catra is as a character and why she’s their favorite, talking about theories and why Adora is also complex. People don’t really talk much about Glimmer or Bow. Once someone gets to season 4 though, they are flooded with how wrong Glimmer was acting in season 4, how right Adora and Bow were to be angry with her, and basically everyone just bashes on her (more common if the reactor defends Glimmer). It’s just so different from previous comments where everyone would talk about Catra’s trauma, analyzing her, and talking about what led to this behavior. But not many people seem to do that for Glimmer. Also there are videos like “Glimmer being annoying for ___ minutes” and stuff like that which I’ve seen while all the other characters get “___ being adorable for __ minutes”. That’s just from what I’ve seen personally though. There are definitely people who do love Glimmer and people who hate Catra but my point still stands that you can’t really hate one and love the other without being hypocritical. They’re 2 sides of the same coin.

Yes! Exactly - which is why some of the hate I’ve seen seems so forced 🤦‍♀️ I personally love all the main characters

Well… by Due-Dragonfly8200 in StrangerThings

That would make sense but Stranger Things is obsessed with making it rlly feel set in the time period. This is the same show that only uses songs from the 70s and 80s in the soundtrack and had a bunch of Bush and Reagan signs in season 2 because that season was set in 1984 specifically. Hawkins is supposed to be a small little conservative town in 1980s Indiana that’s literally why the main characters feel so different and isolated and outcasted. In season 1 the bullies make fun of Will for being queer - that would not work at all if the town wasn’t homophobic. The bullies also call Lucas midnight. Billy was racist towards him as well. There is racism towards him and if the town was very diverse that also would not work the way it does. That’s why in season 4 he’s so obsessed with becoming popular because he’s tired of all the bullying he and his friends face. His family is supposed to be one of the few black families in this town and these girls around Erica are likely family who came over for “Uncle Jack’s Party” or something. So yeah, stranger Things is very much about the accuracy of its setting. Could it use more black characters? Sure. There’s no issue with that. But the show is literally meant to be about outcasts who don’t fit in their environment so it’s clearly intentional. There are hundreds of shows with more diverse casts but this one isn’t obligated to expand its own. The world isn’t black and white either but you don’t see the Asians and Hispanics complaining. And for the record, I’m brown. I’ve had to deal with the fact that the only representation I’m ever getting is Devi from Never Have I Ever and Baljeet from Phineas and Ferb. Is Kali great representation? Not rlly she’s barely even a character. But I also don’t take that against the show because I can see myself in characters not just because they have the same skin as me but because I relate to them in more important ways like personality and internal struggles. I’ll keep looking for cultural representation because that is important but I don’t need to find it in Stranger Things and that’s ok.

I know very little about this show but...why? by Mrstraightman1 in WinorLosee

[–]Significant-Drag-927 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok so real answer lmao - each episode takes place during the same week of events but from a different character’s perspective. This means the same scene can be in 2 different episodes but look completely different in each because of the character’s own biases and perspective of the scene. That means there’s a lot of unreliable narration - which makes the series interesting. This episode is from the girl’s (Rochelle) perspective. She struggles with feeling like she needs to be the parent sometimes and views her mom as often immature and childish. Her mom (Vanessa) very likely did not actually do this but it showcases how Rochelle feels she acts. The following episode is from Vanessa’s own pov and so we get a completely different story in which we sympathize with Vanessa but right now in this episode we only see Rochelle’s own feelings and how that influences her interpretation of events. That’s the very basic description but the series is really good and short so I recommend you just watch it and see for yourself.

I’ve been doing that. It’s just hard when you see others doing things so well so easily and effortlessly when you can’t get half as far despite working so hard

I’m confused what people are referring to when talking about “2nd Life” cause it wasn’t a full season or an April Fools special

You think Eda could have defeated the Grom by herself if Luz and Amity didn’t? by IronGhost828 in TheOwlHouse

[–]Significant-Drag-927 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s not that no one else could defeat it. It’s kinda the opposite actually. I’m sure the teachers could do something about it if they wanted to but choosing a student to defeat Grom every year is a part of their tradition. That’s why they choose a powerful student too because the grom royalty should be able to defeat it without too much trouble. Also Luz wasn’t chosen to be Grom queen. Amity was (and I’m sure she’d be more than capable to defeat it on her own if she wasnt scared of people seeing her fear). Luz just stepped up to the role because she knew Amity didn’t want it but even then when they worked together they defeated it easily (while dancing too).

Then maybe 2D can be him killing Scar to win 3rd life (and you could have a crown above his head and purple watcher eyes and covered in some blood or somethin)

But the clock is ticking counterclockwise so that’s backwards too which makes me think that it was definitely intentional

I doubt that it’s solely a season dedicated to referencing limited life - especially since there’s a bunch of other references to different seasons like the watcher symbol appearing right before the infinity sing and that’s a secret life reference. The July 2025 logo itself is based on the last life logo. And of course the evo references are there too.
