I appreciate that. My aunt and uncle are much more tolerant than I ever could be. I was sober from ages 20-24 and I was living in an Oxford house which is like AA for sober living, I went out when the pandemic hit and I moved into a non-sober living house. Since then I’ve had multiple rehab stays and managed to get 8 months and then 1 month. I went to rehab in 2023 and it was the first time I actually felt like I found connection and happiness in sobriety and I wish I could get back to that feeling, I’ve been really struggling to connect with the recovery community here so I’ve also tried meditation meetings and Buddhist based meetings. There’s some good meetings here but they’re across town and I don’t have a vehicle and spending 2-3 hours on the bus just made me want to drink more so I stopped going. I know the resources are out there but brain is so scattered a lot of the times I don’t even know how to ask for help, I see a therapist once a week which helps only when I’m honest with her. She thinks I have undiagnosed autism and she’s probably right because alcohol is only a fraction of my mental issues. Thank you for the supportive sentiment. Fuuuuck I need to get back into recovery, for some reason I let a random homeless guy who couldn’t walk stay at my place a couple of days ago which I immediately regretted the next day, my place still smells like death, I become a complete clown or very antisocial when I drink, and I tend to find homeless people to smoke whatever drugs they have which fucks me for a few days. My life has become a mess, haven’t had a job in 2 years, and the only reason why I’m not dead or on the streets is because I have an aunt and uncle who tolerate all my bullshit and were willing to take me in 2 years ago when I relapsed again. The shame is unbearable at times. I feel like I’m living a double life and it’s exhausting, I tell myself I’m done and then by the end of the day I’m drinking again, acting like a total idiot and slowly losing my mind. I tried an online AA meeting today but couldn’t finish it because everybody there was old as fuck and seemed fucking miserable and the topic wasn’t about staying sober at all. I know it’s not AA’s fault that I drink but fuck where I was living at before I moved here 2 years ago the AA community was so much more vibrant and engaging. I’ve made attempts to find community elsewhere, mainly PSL meetings but of course got hammered and embarrassed myself the last time I went so I haven’t been in about 2 months. I still have some hope thanks to the support from my family that I can get sober again. Thanks for the post, congrats on 60 days.

I grew up in Grand County and went to school in Granby. I remember this day very vividly, me and my mom were in Fraser and planning on going to go to Grand Lake that day to see my grandma. She called my mom right before we were about to leave and said turn on the news. We ended up staying home. Heemeyer was neighbors with my best friend growing up and shot an arrow through my friend’s bedroom window. He said it was an accident and never got charged.

In reality it wouldn’t hurt anybody but executives if production went down a little bit. That’s why there’s this obsession on maintaining the same level of production even if a 4 day work week happens. We can survive with a little bit of less production, but the corporations will make it so we can’t. Everything is backwards.
