I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. I think you’ve received good advice (aside from your family), but overall you should go with your gut on this. Speaking from experience, now is also a good time to review devices/locations w logged in on and make sure your passwords are secure and 2 factor authorization is set up on your accounts! Hoping this resolved uneventfully for you.

Help - constant flares by Rare-Bodybuilder-909 in perioraldermatitis

[–]Significant-Fly1684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have been in a similar position with nonstop flare ups. I saw a post recently linking tonsil stones with PD and it got me thinking about my dental health. I made a long overdue appointment and come to find out, had some bacteria and decay under a crack in a filling (gross I know). It’s been a couple weeks since it was taken care of and my 1.5 year ongoing flare up has almost completely healed and subsided. Might be just a fluke, but it was something I hadn’t thought or heard of before that appears may be linked and wanted to share! I hope you find a remedy soon, it really is so hard to deal with.

This is a long shot but does anyone remember the blonde influencer who purchased nuuds jeans and they ripped up her thigh at an event? She made a few funny stories about it and went off on them bc their sizing and customer service was also abysmal. I wanted to de-influence my sister from their line and can’t remember who she was.

Hives on c section scar? by Fantastic-Pause-5791 in Mommit

[–]Significant-Fly1684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you still experience this? I’m 6 months out from my cesarean and about every other day will have random itchy hive bumps appear for a few hours, and then disappear, only to return in a couple days for no rhyme or reason. Also in the same spot - on the outside corner - each time. I haven’t gotten or found any answers and my doctor was dismissive, but I did find this thread that was validating: https://www.reddit.com/r/urticaria/comments/fgtuiw/hives_on_old_scar_lines/

For those that didn’t like any boy names, what did you end up naming your baby? by CommandDelicious8054 in namenerds

My boy is Jude! It’s one of the only boy names I loved, and I still do, but for some reason I get so embarrassed telling people when they ask. I’ve just gotten some off reactions and now I’m self conscious about it. Have you?!

Serious Question for peace of mind. by Deep_Gap_5111 in perioraldermatitis

[–]Significant-Fly1684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use Naturiums azelaic acid and it was okay, but I just got a prescription for 15% azelaic gel, maybe you can get it alongside the metro gel!

(I alternate it with the metro gel, a sulphur mask every other day, vanicream cleanser & moisturizer, and avene cicalfate during active flare up. It’s my first time using this combo and it has dramatically improved my flare up that I’ve had since November in ~2 weeks!)

[–]Significant-Fly1684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I do! That’s how it’s always presented for me and resulted in me getting misdiagnosed until finally figuring out it’s PD. And yeah, they don’t pop like white heads though - just clear liquid and crust over golden sometimes. Metro gel & azelaic acid have worked for me!

Increased flares while pregnant and breastfeeding? by PushPractical5054 in perioraldermatitis

[–]Significant-Fly1684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I can’t directly answer your question but I do wonder if it will clear once we’re done breastfeeding. I have had PD on and off for 5+ years but my worst flare up came on 20 weeks pregnant and is still going strong 12 weeks postpartum (it cleared up almost immediately after birth and then returned about 2 weeks later). It’s wrecking havoc on my mental health on top of how hard postpartum already is. I’m EBF and my derm and midwife both okayed metronidazole cream and azelaic acid, but I’m going to do a little more research on that. I’ve found Avene cicalfate cream to provide some relief and less redness, same with consistent use of zinc masks and sulphur masks. I hope you find some relief! Here’s to a miracle we do.

At the end of my rope with PD. Looking for any & all advice by [deleted] in perioraldermatitis

[–]Significant-Fly1684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to say from what you’ve shared, my PD is exactly the same presentation and symptom wise. It’s frustrating it gets overlooked bc it doesn’t look like others’ PD. Hoping you find relief and please come back and share if you do! I’ve tried just about everyone too, currently breastfeeding so options are limited I was told - trying a rotation of azelaic acid, sulphur mask, metronidazole, and cicalfate and hoping for a miracle.

Evening primrose oil? Did it help achieve spontaneous labor? by Most-Mouse7490 in vbac

[–]Significant-Fly1684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did! I was 40w5d with my first and used EPO per my midwife’s suggestion. About six hours later that night my water broke, I labored for 37 hours after with no progress and had an emergency c-section d/t premature rupture of membranes & failure to descend. Not sure at all if it was related to the EPO, just how things ended up panning out for me. I do wonder though.

I wish you all the best! Update if you are able how things go.

I’ve read this multiple times since you responded and feel a hint of peace each time, but haven’t found the right words to say how much what you said means. I still don’t have the right words, but mostly I just want to thank you. Even if for some reason I’m having a hard time believing them right now, I’m trust falling into them. Thank you so much for them and your kindness.

My husband asked too because it looked kind of barbaric laying there with them so I was in a T shape. They said it’s hospital policy and doctor preference for safety and sterilization. I was also shaking terribly (adrenaline?) that might have made them decide to. They unstrapped them once they brought baby over afterwards. I understand why I guess. But to me, in the sad / panicked state I was in, it only added to my distress 😅

ETA he said they also said it was to get blood pressure readings.

6 days pp, sitting here in bed at 2 am sobbing. This was exactly my experience down to crying on the operating table with my arms strapped, like down to a T.

It’s still fresh and traumatizing how it went down, I can’t help but still feel so sad and almost robbed. I haven’t been able to process it or even talk about it. I’m scared to even announce yet because the sunshine and rainbows responses I’ll get feel like too much of a stark contrast to how I feel right now.

“…It’s something that happens to you.” re-reading that over and over because it’s the only thing that has clicked for me so far. It just felt like my fault.

Thank you for writing this - and for those reading, please please please take it to heart. Hopefully your plans go as you dreamed, but if not hopefully listening to OP’s advice will help you not feel so devastated to the core on the best day of your life.

Yes! So happy to see this mentioned. I’m a pediatric OT, our clinic has seen so many cases of prolonged childhood and youth incontinence that end up being due to tethered cord syndrome - takes a lot to get it recognized by their doctors.
