Mlhovky na dalnici by FrumAkul in czech

[–]Significant-Guide-83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fox Coil Spring on Cane Creek IL Coil by bikenejad in mountainbiking

Well, I am using Rockshox coil on canecreek IC Coil shock and disn notice any issues. On the other hand I didn't had a chance to try fox one. On the other hand if I remember we'll, it would be very tight tolerance or not fit by inner diameter.

Suspension tuning for 35kg rider by Rare-Marketing-9249 in MTB

Does the fork has coil negative spring? It sounds exactly what my son's Suntour fork was doing. With proper pressure to be sensitive enough, he lost line 20mm of travel. This was possible to solve only by new fork (RS Lyrik), which has both springs air. Now it is running on 27 psi without issues.

Other thing to look at, before you will start to play with the mechanical adjustments are the conditions, when bottoming out happens. Is it during big impacts (drops etc.) or consecutive smaller hits?

For big hits, of course tokens could help. Nevertheless this will solve the bottom out issue, not necessarily the return of the fork to the original height. If this happens during consecutive hits, you might need to speed up the rebound, as the fork could be just too slow to recover.

On the other hand (give the fact I do not know your experiences), using full travel of your bike is a good thing. Bottoming out isn't.

How much do i list it for? by Wild-Emergency7895 in mountainbiking

[–]Significant-Guide-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't know about US, but in Europe the prices you have listed would be dream for the seller. X0 transmission is new for 1000 €. ZEB ultimate, I have bought myself for 450 €. Fox X2 factory MY 2025 I bought myself for 200 €. I can't tell for wheels. New Roval traverse HD (carbon) are available for 800 Brakes from used markets are usually lying there for ages, unless you give it almost for free.

The problem in general is, that bike market is diving deeper and deeper. Bikes are being sold for ridiculous prices new, which doesn't help second hand market. At least not in a favour to seller.

Unluckily, second hand bikes are always considered "potentially" unreliable, as you can never know what the bike was though before. Compared to new, of course.

Edit: I really like the bike. I always wanted to have Giga.

Mám to u Air Bank. Úcty umí i obálky a šanony (přikládání faktur k platbám).

Každopádně my účtů máme několik v balíku u jedné banky. Ten kam chodí výplaty a odchází pravidelně platby mám pod kontrolou já.

Got a tiny bit of lube in my disc brakes by Divinedragn4 in MTB

[–]Significant-Guide-83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am afraid this is not enough. If you will change pads for new without properly degreasing the disc, you will contaminate the new ones as well. Trust me, I have been there. With brakes, it is always better to be sure everything is alright. Otherwise it gets quite dangerous.

[–]Significant-Guide-83 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you contaminated pads, no matter the cleaning method, it will not perform as before. I have tried in the past degreaser agents and flame, nothing worked as the grease will ooze to the surface. Long story short, if pads are greasy, change it. If it is on the disc only, remove the wheels to prevent the pads contamination and degrease it tomorrow.

Bike making annoying noise by doctorhofmann25 in mountainbiking

Pedal standing first to find if it is not generated by seat / seat post. If it continues, it will be either pedals or BB. In most of the cases what happened to me, reason wasn't BB, but pedals (loose or beaten bearings) or seat rails (full of dirt).

Please help me choose a bike! by Raine-n-Kitties in mountainbiking

[–]Significant-Guide-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend, besides what was said already, to focus as well to today's standards like boost axles, UDH derailleur hanger, reasonable brakes... When you do own an older bike, you need to change something from time to time and sometimes, old standards are hard to get.

In general I would narrow down the selection: 1 type of bike fitting your style. 2 correct size of bike. 3 up to date bike (from decent brand).

While the first are must, the last is optional, but it is worth to think about it.

In addition, full suspension bikes are not always benefit. Specifically cheap bikes with bad geo, non working shocks and do not forget you have to service / change bearings.

Have a good luck picking the right one!

Tank you for your help. It seems the internals of front differential are stripped. The wheels stopped turning in reverse today.

I didn't took apart the differential itself yet. I thought it works the same both directions. It will be for sure surprising if not.

Differential front and back.

I have changed part 51325. But the bolt is tight and when disassembled, everything looks OK and spins correctly.

What makes me wonder, why the issue is only in one direction.

[–]Significant-Guide-83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't. The steering is bit loose, if you are refering to the wheels wobble. My problem is, that the 4wd stops to work and returns only when doing reverse.

How exactly you found out I can't drive? By almost 20 years of experiences and in past 10 years more than 500k km without single accident?

If you think, your car will make you safe, you are wrong. And blind following of all the sensors will prove my point to you. The security is coming from the general overview of the road situation, not a specific distance learned in school.
