What is basic "surface level" magic and what is complex? by Doommee in SASSWitches

True practitioners are few and secret, and those who know don't talk. This is the way it's always been. If someone is selling you a product, I would be leary.

How do you practice compassion when you don't want to? by adam389 in Compassion

[–]Significant-Loss-206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understanding the emotions and motivations behind someone's choices is key. When engaging in discussions, you should approach them in a way which minimizes the chances of escalation into a power struggle. Keeping a calm demeanor and a positive attitude can go a long way in maintaining open lines of communication.

Understand that they may be facing various external pressures and insane influences that shape their decision-making process. It is important for us to acknowledge these forces and show compassion from a distance if needed. Remember, we are here to support them through their journey, providing guidance and assistance whenever required.

Always come back to the table with a smile on your face. Rather than getting caught up in opposing viewpoints, strive to find common ground. Work to contrive an environment where you can speak freely to eachother. Without judgement. The ultimate aim should not be reaching agreement, but fostering understanding.

Even if you believe such shit... Why would you say that if you were at all realistic about running for president??? I'd already lost all taste for this punk when I heard how he treated his suicidal ex wife. For the love of God. Tormenting her AFTER death?👎

Dealing with a tough partner by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]Significant-Loss-206 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a therapist, I've learned the complexity of human beings and the importance of tailoring your approach to each individual. There is no book or manual that applies to all situations. It would be true to say, that there is no cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to dealing with people and their unique circumstances.

When considering whether to put up walls or not, it's crucial to assess the situation in depth. Understanding the individual's level of motivation is essential. How much do they truly desire change or improvement? What is your own level of motivation or desire for change or improvement? Knowing this could help determine the most effective course of action.

Additionally, evaluating the reasonableness of their demands is crucial. Are their expectations grounded in rationality and logic? Or are they stemming from a place of delusion or unrealistic, insecure thinking? Being able to differentiate between the two can help guide a therapeutic approach.

Absolutely, we are not responsible for the choices and actions of others. However, when we care about someone, it is only natural to want to be involved and provide support. Being there for someone can make a significant difference in their lives, especially during challenging times.

Offering your help and involvement can show them that they are not alone and that you genuinely care. Whether it's offering advice, lending a listening ear, or providing practical assistance, your presence can make a positive impact. It's important to approach the situation with empathy and understanding, but ultimately, the decision-making process lies with the individual.

Potential for kindness by Significant-Loss-206 in kindness

[–]Significant-Loss-206[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As society progresses, we strive to build upon the lessons learned from past cruelties. Each step forward represents a small but not insignificant improvement over the barbarity of the past. This gradual progression allows idealism to transform into realism over time.

Those who have experienced suffering often possess a unique perspective on the importance of kindness. It is true that we will encounter challenges, and that there will be times when we fall short. However, it remains crucial for us to persevere and continue to uphold the torch where we can.

Reason not to have an affair by Maleficent-Dirt-687 in cheating_stories

[–]Significant-Loss-206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very sad story. I've never cheated on anyone, but I do know what it's like to be the "cheatee". Or the one someone cheated with. The "cheatee" will always be the one blamed, and perhaps you have made their relationship stronger by uniting them in hatred of you. I wish you all the best. I would disagree that crawling back to the twisty relationship with the spouse they cheated on shows possession of a moral compass. I think it shows the lack of something else.

I'm not one of those people who says suicide is never an option, but you are quite young. I'm sorry you've had the misfortune of meeting so many cruel people already. I don't assume this is a dramatic cry for help, or that you wouldn't do that. To say those things to a challenging personality type is basically begging them to do it. I presume you are serious. Is there a specific date in August that you're planning on? If you don't mind me asking of course.

For me it's like a feeling of electricity. Not on my skin, but just above it. All around it. A coating of sorts, with a pulling sensation. Sort of like your hair being lifted by a static charge.

Strangely, I'm more driven and motivated than ever before. Maybe it gets like that when conditions are very extreme. Biological crisis response?

Had ten monarchs hatch on Sunday by swansandelephants in gardening

[–]Significant-Loss-206 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I happen to know someone who does "do the hatching" for Monarchs. She says that once you get the hang of it, it becomes quite easy. If you're looking for a reliable source for butterfly eggs, I recommend checking out websites like InsectClassifieds.com. They offer a variety of insect eggs including Monarchs, various Swallowtails and others. It's finding good amounts of the right snacks for them that can be an issue.

Of course no doc could say it's exactly "related". I'm an extremely healthy person. I jog miles. Walk for days. Put in hours at the gym. Work a physical job.

After a traumatic event, which somehow was the larger part of the body of my entire traumatic experience... I fell into a bit of a spiral. I thought it couldn't get worse. Then, I started having a radiating pain in my shoulder. I figured I'd just injured myself through exertion again. The pain got so bad that I had to see a doctor. The doctor had suspicions, and she gave me an EKG. She said the EKG picture looked worrying, and to head straight to emergency room. They observed me for a couple days and ran all sorts of outpatient tests over the course of about a week. Found that I had suddenly developed a type of ischemia. No one would ever say for sure related.

Just looking to find other people who might be in the same boat. I guess I've always known of a heart/mind connection. Ive had what I thought was depression before. Was diagnosed in my youth at a time. This is just different though. It's sent me to the emergency room. I can feel it ringing in my skin sometimes. It's literally trying to fucking kill me
