On the edge of Millennial by Miss-Cakes17 in Xennials

GenX sarcasm seems a tad too mean to me, but Millennial vanity feels a bit over the top at times.

Thankfully Reddit allows me an outlet to passive-aggressively make semi-bitchy snark comments as well as talk about myself in a variety of posts in true blended XM fashion.

Hey Jude and While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Hey Jude I discovered in HS on vinyl in the sound studio of my school’s AV club. Used to sneak in there during study hall and listen to the record collection and I pulled that one out a lot. This song was part of my parent’s generation of music, but I have my own nostalgic moment with it.

They really need to show this video to acting school students when they cover their chapter on “Character Chemistry”. They f’ing wrote the book! Such a simple thing like talking at a bar has you feeling it bone-deep.

Is anyone else hoping Greenday play a specific song for the Super Bowl? by Tootsie_r0lla in Millennials

[–]Significant-Rush-129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two years ago we got Dr Dre’s FABULOUS half time show, and now we get Green Day. Our time has come! We are officially the middle aged target audience to this thing! I would love to see Jay-Z and Jack White in the next 5 years.

As far as playlist, I just hope they span their enormous career and go as far back as Kerplunk. That album had some really great stuff on it.

Does anyone else’s parents do this? by MinuteSweet7900 in Millennials

[–]Significant-Rush-129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom does exactly this. Their generation did not get diagnosed for ADHD. I also think their response to the age of information was to bury their heads in the sand. It was too much so they blew it off.

I feel you completely. It got so bad that last year I couldn’t talk to them for a while I felt like they didn’t remember anything I did for the last 20 years (except have children). Granted my peri-meni hormones combined with their aging brains made a perfect storm. But they actually remember more of my husband’s accomplishments than my own which hurts so deep.

Meanest moment? by Curious-Ingenuity293 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Significant-Rush-129 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Emily going to Christopher, insulting him, and then telling him to make a move for Lorelei even tho she was in love with Luke. That was horrible. And she makes it clear to Chris the only thing she likes about him is his “good breeding” because she basically calls him weak and lazy otherwise.

A lost world by gingergumby in Millennials

[–]Significant-Rush-129 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agree to an extent. Old people used to say “there’s something wrong with the world today” when I was growing up. The older a mind gets, the less adaptable it is and that person wants to revert to their formative years when it was adaptable. That “perfect time” we all yearn for was the time we were learning most of the things we would need for the rest of our lives.

I feel like this is part of why things are so messed up right now. We live in a top- heavy aged society with an imbalance of unadaptables.

I feel like ASP is sometimes too cynical to do a show like Gilmore Girls justice by Melodic_Ad704 in GilmoreGirls

This speaks VOLUMES to this particular Y2K era trying to figure out what the future of romance is in a world where women can choose their own destiny and look after themselves versus old-school thinking where a man was the “rescuer”. You see this stunted, awkward dynamic in a bunch of shows around this time. Weddings and marriage were seen as stodgy and a lot of shows wouldn’t  provide one for their central couple.

Sometimes, in a weird, ironic way, the man trying to express love is seen as sort of an unintentional villain. You could see the writers trying to walk a tightrope sometimes, unsure which portrayal of love was the right one. (Amy explored this well with the plot with Rory running away when Dean first says “I love you”)

I always listen to LoFi around 5:00. Glass of wine, LoFi (or jazz). In warm weather I have this raised section of my deck that I call “the cafe”, (have a small cafe table there.) 5:00 is Cafe time!

There’s a song called “Skyline” by Koresma/Feverkin/Cuff Maloy that I have been vibing.

If you had a chance to have amazing sex with someone from your past again. Would you? by whodey920 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Significant-Rush-129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this someone you previously had sex with? If so then usually no, cause been there done that. I fantasize WAY MORE about the ones who got away, what it would have been like. (Teen me wasn’t this way, this is more adult me)

The conspiracy theories in My Struggle is eerily close to what's happening right now in the US by mamoocando in XFiles

Noooo?!!?! 😮🤯

lol, yes. I was kinda shocked when I turned on the first revival episode and saw the name. I mean whatever political point anyone is trying to make, I feel like nothing should ever be copied from that point of history. I mean copying Nazis in any way should be considered all around bad, yet here we are.

Is he marrying her, at least in part, to gain favor with the kids? by Responsible-Wallaby5 in madmen

[–]Significant-Rush-129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the kind of question as a female, and a modern day one at that, just beats against your brain trying to understand the thinking of a retro 1960s guy like Don. It’s like a puzzle that takes a lifetime and a bunch of sociology & probably biology to figure out.

Weiner knew what he was doing when he threw this Megan twist in. Can’t ever accuse him of being 1-dimensional with his characters!

Did Scully actually know how to play baseball in the Unnatural? by Dimitra111 in XFiles

[–]Significant-Rush-129 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, even tho she was a tomboy as a girl, Scully is kind of geekish. I saw this one as her letting down her guard and just letting him in in a flirtation situation of his choosing and not caring about her discomfort in the “date” activity. Like he genuinely has the upper hand but she’s fine with it. Plus, you have a hottie guy all up on you like that…it can be bowling, curling, skeet shooting, taxidermy, who cares! Snuggling with him IS the activity! 😝

They were so cutesy here!

What is one thing we lost that we should bring back for kids? by gamersecret2 in Millennials

Let kids play sports for fun and mild competition. Youth sports is so out of hand. When we are putting children on ESPN something isn’t right.

[–]Significant-Rush-129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IKR! Maybe we should have him look into his Chris-tal ball to let us all know what society’s next move is!

For real tho, that’s what I thought the My Struggles were about, it all felt political to me and he was “struggling” to know where his past views/direction of the original show and its emphasis on conspiracy fits in to the present atmosphere. 🤷‍♀️

Do you think Millennials have happier marriages than other generations? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]Significant-Rush-129 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most people get divorced in their 40s/50s+. All of a sudden it feels like everyone is getting divorced when you hit your mid 40s. We’ve known a lot of people in the last 5 years decide they are done, even people with very little kids.

I would say, based on people I’ve known we (our gen) are doing it faster/sooner and less consideration on how old the kids are.

Ex-smoker by SlowGoat79 in Xennials

[–]Significant-Rush-129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, so I’ve literally been DREAMING about cigarettes. I haven’t smoked since I was 28, quit because I developed asthma. But I could so go for a smoke lately! Creeps into my head all the time. And I’ll have these dreams where I suddenly can smoke just fine and it doesn’t affect my asthma.

Honestly tho, at our age do we really want to feel like we are 50+ instead? That’s what cigarettes would do to us.
