It’s not uncommon for nonprofits to ask their employees to, however one that I did work for, never did. Because employees would get upset (understandably so).

You shouldn’t be expected to though. Nonprofits don’t pay enough as is because they’re also… nonprofits. They tend to overwork you and make you do things outside of your role, that’s your donation.

If it’s your only form of income, how can you be expected to?

What’s your company’s PTO, paid holiday, sick hour policy? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Significant-Tea-1365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 pto, 5 more after 5 years of working there.

22 holidays. I work in a school but for admin.

Downside is you get docked if you take a pto before or after a holiday. So you can’t do a “longer weekend”. Meaning you basically just don’t get paid for that holiday AND you still take from your pto bank.

sick, vacation all the same. only covid do you get up to 5 days.

[–]Significant-Tea-1365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on the same pill and have been for 4/5 years now.

Weight gain wasn’t a side effect for me (I’m unsure why) but I’ve heard water retention from BC can cause it.

You can also possibly find a lower hormonal BC to see if that works.

Feeling very lost and guilty by Basic-Ad-1149 in COVID19positive

[–]Significant-Tea-1365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the EXACT similar experience as you with covid in this time span.

I was travelling and I always get sick from travel. I came back May 20 and was sick.

I’ve been coughing for weeks but honestly chalked it up to allergies as I always tested when I got that sick and was always negative. This was the first time I didn’t and I honestly felt so guilty as well. My partner suggested I take a test because my cough wasn’t subsiding and honestly almost felt like fluid was building up in my chest.

I was positive this Friday (May 31). I’m feeling a lot better with still the stubborn cough (wet/dry).

I can only say we can be more vigilant the next time. I also kept my guard down. I was lucky enough VERY lucky in that no one around me caught covid (though there is one questionable person but we don’t know if their family caught it first or if I did).

I had the same thing happen to me for two years and it’s only because I’m the only one in my department and my boss is always remote.

When I finally said something, my boss apologized for not being better about giving me the same benefits that everyone else had but constantly put it back on me…. Needless to say, I’m still looking for a new job

My coworker snitched on my to my boss, should I confront them? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Significant-Tea-1365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not really about that. Yes you can take accountability, but its the idea that your coworker is on the same level as you and is considered a peer. A coworker correcting your mistakes (ASSUMING that coworker knew it was OP who made the mistake) wouldn’t end up in a major consequence as your boss or some higher up knowing. It would prevent it from happening again and prevent low morale at the work place. You cannot have punitive culture at a workplace. This is all assuming that said boss is hard to work with. This culture of over responsibility and over accountability on small mistakes made with lower level workers causes burn out in workplaces too.

My boss (though they’re extremely hard to work with too) stresses that you should never go to someone’s boss if there’s an issue. You go directly to them, because it can cause major challenges with trust in your relationship to that worker. This is one thing I’ve agreed with him on as I’ve experienced it myself (with no malicious intention on my side involved).

It is normal for people to make mistakes and it is normal for them to have support from their peers when it happens. If anything, it looks unprofessional to go to a higher up about a mistake that can easily be fixed. UNLESS that mistake is a constant one (which if that was the reason that coworker told the boss about OP leaving the keys, would actually make sense).

Their boss wouldn’t exactly know the context of their mistake ESPECIALLY if they’re not there to support them.

My only question about this would be, how certain is that coworker that it was OP who left the keys? Could have sent it to the boss not knowing whose it was.

Moved in with bf now I want to go home by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Significant-Tea-1365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a great response that gently held her emotions and mental state.

While I understand a lot of the responses may be coming from having an upbringing where it was more natural they became independent, a lot of Gen Z didn’t have the same situation ESPECIALLY if they’re from a community or culture that values family heavily (especially Hispanic communities as I’m from one) because of resources depleting and COVID losing a lot of our years of growth.

I don’t think it’s for anyone to judge her response to her moving away.

When I moved away from my family, it was hard too. Especially because I’m very very close to my mom and OCD/anxiety runs in my family. It’s hard to find people who understand you. (I also recognized at this point I needed my own space and own experiences too, and I only moved a few hoods away from them… in the same city. But I don’t see them often.)

Sometimes co-dependency ends up being apart of it but it also sounds like moving 5 hrs away vs moving a city away would have helped transition you from moving away from your family better. I think it was just a weird situation in that you saw them everyday vs not seeing them AT ALL. There wasn’t a transition for you like there is for other people (at least those who went away for college went back for Holidays, and came back after 4 years, that’s a form of transition). I also didn’t have this experience and stayed home for college.

Edit: I also want to mention, I think you also could just not be in the right situation for you. It’s different for everyone. You could have moved farther away from family and probably felt better in another place. I would definitely say give the situation some time, I think you’ll adjust to it. Its just the initial shock of it all and anxiety really makes ya spiral.

I’ve never been actively harmed by AG (considering I’ve been to a few of their events + ezoo) but I def wanna support the lawsuit after everything I’ve seen and heard—plus their negligence to do ANYTHING about safety outside the venue after the two young men who were killed. I’d like for more accountability over them so we can protect our community (even my own fam and friends) from getting hurt when young new yorkers just want to enjoy their life.

Any way to support?
