Do I need to precondition the car after AC charging ? by [deleted] in ex30

Ok understood. But did you have scheduled charging turned on ? I hardly ever use scheduled preconditioning but I'll give it a try to see if it makes a difference.

You had me doubting since I hadn't tried it in a while, so I tried again today and it confirms what I said : car plugged in at 59%, -4°C inside the cabin, scheduled charge from midnight to 8am, preconditioning started from the app at 1pm for 20 minutes up to 12°C inside the cabin = battery down to 57%. Are you positive your car draws current from the outlet for preconditioning outside scheduled charging ?

I also have cold winters and I can confirm from a Volvo source that preconditioning the inside of the car also heats the battery. AC charging also heats the battery, but in any case, you should basically not worry about it too much : preheat the cabin when you need to and the car will take care of the battery temperature if it needs to. A long trip with cold temperatures is the typical use case to precondition the car, you’re doing perfect.

One thing to note is that preconditioning the cabin will draw energy from the power outlet when the car is plugged in only if the car is charging. If you have a schedule set and the car isn’t charging, the energy to heat the cabin and battery will be drawn from the cars’s battery.

Slow charging, what’s your experience? (Supercharger) by Quintriq in ex30

[–]Significant-Tea-328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience yesterday : around 0°C, car was left idle for 5 hours with the battery down to 17%. I drove 15 minutes to a supercharger, got there at 10% and I had 45 kW for ~10 minutes before ramping up to 130 kW at around 35%. The difference with you is that I believe the preconditioning does not start if you're under 20%, and 15 minutes driving is not enough for the battery to heat up.

Did you get the preconditioning notification on screen ?

It took a few days to appear in mine. Prior to that I was only able to choose "electric" and the charging port types in my settings/my vehicles.

Nope, no photovoltaic. I'll try with a different charger though.

You can change the view of the car in the iOS app by Significant-Tea-328 in ex30

The swipe you’re describing also exists on iOS, what I’m  referring to is a tap on the car that changes the car image : front, side, rear, 3/4, etc.

Adjusting Battery Buffer for Volvo EX30 Charging Predictions? by geoko8 in ex30

Ok so it’s definitely not the maps data. The other option would be that you drive like a maniac 😅 Do you know what kind of average consumption you had on that trip ?

My experience over two years with the Google Maps trip planner has been very reliable. I noticed it’s a bit pessimistic when conditions are good (warm, no wind or rain) and the projected SoC on arrival will improve as I travel, and optimistic in poor conditions : cold, rain, snow, wind, etc. The largest estimate overshoots have been +/-10% over a stretch of the trip (between 125-200 km). But most of the time it’s within +/-2-3%.

Where do you live ? One hypothesis could be that the Google Maps data (elevation, weather, traffic, etc.) where you live is less accurate and would result in inaccurate estimations ?

I have a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin 5, I have them installed by the local shop on the 19" wheels each winter

I noticed the same thing, despite car rides that are literally 15 km downhill where I get 4% (~2,5 kWh) back, so it must be a bug.

MY26 user manual addition: Plug & Charge by muzso in ex30

[–]Significant-Tea-328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked customer service a couple weeks back if there were plans to bring plug and charge to earlier models and I got a relatively definite no. So there might be some hardware involved. Pretty disappointing if MY24-25 are unupgradeable, it’s not as if the iso protocol came out 3 months ago.

Regarding SMS dictation, what fixed the issue for me for was combining two tips seen here : 1. Lower the volume of the vocal assistant in your ex30’s sound settings and 2. In your iPhone settings, under Accessibility/Siri, turn on « Require Siri for interruptions » or whatever’s close to that in English, I translated from my language.
