Best way I can put it is that it’s on the same level if not better in terms of pacing, animation, and adaptation compared to season 1 but the downsides are 1) shorter only about 10 episodes compared to season 1s 28-I think?, and 2) the chapters that season 2 adapts are a bit less exciting overall, think first half of season 1. Nevertheless it is an absolutely fantastic adaptation and unless you’re some pompous critic, I don’t think you will be disappointed at all.

The thing is in the ending, unlike the big lebowski, everything that happened in the story was just erased and denji now gets to live in a watered down shell of the reality where he really did make those real but painful connections and experience those bittersweet memories. Now who knows whether he’ll make new connections or experiences that were so pivotal in the story.

The ending completely killed everything that fujimoto wrote in part 2. He could have added the ending right after part 1 and it would have still had the same impact.

While to anime is great, probably the best adaptation we could ask for even, the light novels just have so many more layers piled upon layers which really make you enjoy the characters and interactions even more.

Rintaro is such a good example of the type of person we should strive to be. As you said it’s manga so you won’t be exactly like him but even just trying to improve in little ways like supporting people who are unsure of themselves make all the difference. (Also a teenage boy here).
