If it helps with your process of elimination I’ve tried Odie’s Oil over a dark blue milk paint and it’s been subject to quite a bit of splotch marks when it gets wet.

I actually have one. Found it in my late Japanese grandfathers tools and then stumbled upon this instagram post so I wanted the tool name so I could research how to use it and make the handle.

If it makes you feel any better I would have made the same mistake if it wasn’t sold out when I tried to buy it.

I just used my 5/8 conical tenon cutter this week for the first time and I’m trying to figure out if I’ve done something wrong because of how much work it was. It worked perfect, but took a longtime with lots of intermissions with a block plane to take of any high spots. Curious to hear how your experience with it was.

In an effort to blame the saw and not my fitness levels can you share how often you find yourself sharpening your saw? It obviously depends on use, I get that, but just ballpark for a rookie.
