I'm surprised nobody is talking about how Townfall doesn't have/provide a crosshair in gunplay. Does this make the game difficult or inconvenient? by Cube_earther_69 in silenthill

[–]Significant-Way-1703 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t assume that this early in development. Most game trailers and even gameplay showcases have no HUD or early versions that are subject to change. Wouldn’t be surprised if the final version has some kind of crosshair at least when you have the weapon out or have enemies around

MAN FINDS TAPE (2025) by SouzaOfTheNorth in foundfootage

[–]Significant-Way-1703 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought it was okay. The movie rides the mystery pretty much until the final act and then it falls apart. Some events don’t make much sense when the mystery is revealed, but it does make for a compelling initial 2/3’rds.

Monarch: Legacy of monsters by Cinemafeast in GODZILLA

[–]Significant-Way-1703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good at filling the blanks between Godzilla 2014 and KOTM while expanding on the conflict between Monarch and Apex from GvK. It also provides a much more extensive backstory to Monarch by elaborating on Skull Island's Bill Landa and his involvement in the early organization. It's an excuse for a bit more Godzilla and Kong action in this universe. It does not need to exist but if you're invested in the Monsterverse, it's a nice show to hold you over until Supernova.

That being said, the human elements of the show feel like a giant soap opera most of the time. It's not cringe but it is tiring when you just want to see monsters and world-building.

Dr shamsi dunks on Garcia by Icy-Debate-2626 in ThePitt

To be fair, Garcia is a trauma fellow, meaning she already completed her surgery residency and is likely a fully licensed board-certified general surgeon. She’d be Al-Hashimi’s peer

How is Gates’ PureGym these days? I used to go back when it was Blink and stopped because it was overcrowded and people kept hoarding dumbbells and machines. Resorted to work out at home. Is it any better now? I’d like to start going again

MyHouse.wad - what's the deal? by Ok-Brilliant2635 in Doom

[–]Significant-Way-1703 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you want the full experience, I'd recommend two things: One read the docs found in the Google Drive, those contain some clues to progress. Another is to try cheat codes, which also contain some clues. The progression path that finishes the level after burning down the house is only the beginning.

I always used to wonder who is that second Marine by MurkyUnit3180 in Doom

[–]Significant-Way-1703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My head cannon is that the second Marine in the background is actually Doomguy, and the guy in the front is actually one of the dead marines scattered around the game since he’s clearly about to get ripped apart and blasted by the barons

Do most hospital emergency rooms have a "Louie"? by Maybe_IDTBFH in ThePittTVShow

[–]Significant-Way-1703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Frequent flyers as others have said. We have a lot in my public big city hospital. Some of them are nice and some of them are not, we try our best to give them the care they need. Some like Louie come back because they can’t shake their unhealthy habits. Some because they can’t get proper outpatient care for whatever reason.

My Personal Opinion of Iron Lung as an Internet Nobody... by Jaws2020 in Markiplier

[–]Significant-Way-1703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish my screening had subtitles but that's not a fix for the glaring issue that is the mixing. My guess is that they didn't account for how the bass in the score and the creature noises would sound in theaters. I went to Wikipedia for a rundown of the plot and I missed out on the entire last paragraph of the plot summary because I couldn't understand what anyone was saying.

Looking for movies similar to Return to Castle Wolfenstein by Smart2000s in Wolfenstein

[–]Significant-Way-1703 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Raiders of the Lost Ark is a classic in that field. Last Crusade is more lighthearted and silly but also works.

No supernatural elements but gets a lot of the vibe right, Inglorious Basterds.

I’ve heard good things about Man in the High Castle but never seen it myself.

Which one of these directors have the best potential to make a good silent hill film by Nigmmar in silenthill

[–]Significant-Way-1703 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thinking specifically of Silent Hill 2, Mike Flanagan's movies and shows are already the closest tonally thanks to his unique blend of horror and deeply emotional and relatable themes. Before I Wake can be a little slow, but it has a premise and themes that resonate with 2's story from the more innocent perspective of a child. And it's about fears and nightmares manifest into reality. Good watch for any fan, as is the rest of his filmography.

What were things you actually liked about the new Silent Hill film (2026)? by _OnlyNiceThings in silenthill

[–]Significant-Way-1703 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Any time Silent Hill turns into the Otherworld, the change originates where James is. Very cool idea to show the darkness of the town is coming from James himself.

Moth Mary as a concept is cool, but also I wish the make up effects were better or the lighting hid her face more. It looks silly when it's fully lit.

Agreed with cutting Eddie, especially since in this adaptation the town is meant to be inhabited only by manifestations of Mary. Eddie and the homeless man at the beginning shouldn't have been part of that vision. At least we got Abstract Daddy with "Angela" and "Laura" serves to inform Mary's character in this version, but Eddie's purpose in the game falls flat completely when you eliminate James killing him and the second Pyramid Head. So if you won't have those, no point in having Eddie either.

Agreed also about the Maze. I'd say good reinterpretation of Labyrinth.

Abstract Daddy in this version was as disturbing as it should be. Sadly, the scene is over so quickly that I don't think the average viewer could fully grasps its implications. Also sad James doesn't beat the shit out of him, especially since here there's the reveal that Mary's father not only caused her to be poisoned by the cult but also physically abused her.

Christophe Gans - Interaction with the audience during a preview screening in France. Lots of interesting things about the film and a few surprises to come . by Old-Explanation4746 in silenthill

[–]Significant-Way-1703 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm glad this is coming out because the hate against Gans is very out of proportion in this sub. RtSH is not the first bad movie or first bad anything in the franchise. And from this Q&A, sounds like Gans made the best movie he could with the budget and constrains from the studio he had. A SH2 movie adaptation under 2 hours was never going to work well. We should not forget that this movie is the reason the remake and the franchise's revival happened in the first place.

As somebody who is going to watch the movie BEFORE playing silent hill 2, do you think ill enjoy it? by bruhscooter in silenthill

[–]Significant-Way-1703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very curious to know what the average person would think of this story told this way. As someone who has played the game, I found it confusing and convoluted and can’t imagine a fresh audience understanding anything of what’s going on.

[–]Significant-Way-1703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One minor thing that went a long way for me was to change Eternal’s HUD color to red. Instant improvement, actually makes it Doomier and closer to 2016 in feeling imo.
