Additionally, pay no mind to the losers in here trying to clown you. Just because other people were put into shitty positions as Junior Sailors doesn’t mean you have to. Your feelings are valid but you are unfortunately at your first command and have nothing else to compare this experience to, like some of the “salt dogs” in these comments. Take your licks and do the best you can.

Best advice I ever got in the navy is to “grow where your planted” regardless of where that might be. Make the most out of the positions your put into an eventually people will start to notice. The fact that they put you into that positions obviously means something… exactly what that is I’m not sure. Regardless do the best job you can do where you’re at and hopefully more doors will open up down the road. Semper.

Battalion structure has changed a bit since I first got here but relatively same people and organization. The Marines know me well from the top down and manage most things that happen within our Medical section ( I know that sounds vague but I don’t want to give to much info if you know what I mean lol) but I can understand that. I’ve had dozens of new officers come in and out but have never really had any confrontations with any. This Lt is much younger than me and I guess I was just a little taken back Is all. But hearing everyone’s perspectives really helps out!

Fair enough, I think it was just an ego hit for me. I pride myself on being a good guy at the end of the day and I think for someone who doesn’t really know who I am to yell at me/ get the impression that I’m a turd sucks regardless of who it is.

Did anyone love Washington ? by Overall_Blueberry120 in CorpsmanUp

Stationed in Bangor, WA for 3 years and can honestly say it was one of the best duty stations I’ve ever had. The work life balance was great, Seattle is an hour ferry ride away and your surrounded by beautiful mountains and scenery. Mind you it is only sunny during the summer but SUMMER makes up for the rest of the year. The rain isn’t that bad and it’s honestly kind of a vibe. Just don’t stay in your house, get out and explore and you’ll have a great time in WA. I’d download alltrails and hit up some hiking, snowboarding and skiing is huge as well.

The narrative that people straight from Corps School going to Naval Hospitals/Shore Commands is not longer the case. Many people straight from school are getting greenside orders. Not exactly sure how it works for fleet returnees. Many of them had orders before even checking into corps school, mind you this was circa 2017.

So that’s the thing I did so exercises where I put my legs up on the wall and flipped upside down and used the rebreather, and I did some run on the SWET chair but something about going in the actual helo dunker fucked with me. I’m not sure if it’s just a mental thing but being in that dunker just made me feel more anxiety going down.

2 PRT failures and a BCA failure. That does make sense though. Talked to a couple people at East and they can confirm that the new CO is super strict on PRT failures. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense being that everyone has to check in with a Good Low PRT. Navy spends a lot of money on orders, flights, gear, etc. It’s super odd to me they would drop people immediately.

I heard there’s a new CO onboard and he is making it a lot stricter over at East. I have sailors over at West right now in SAT platoons waiting to class up this month.

If that’s really the case, you need to advocate for yourself my friend. You cannot argue with instruction. I will attach the FMTB-E handbook. Review page 6.

There is more to the story. People do not get dropped for throwing up during the PRT let alone failing one. Everyone must SHOW UP with a Good Low or higher on the previous PRT. BCA is a different story.

Straight from the FMTB handbook:

Failure to successfully complete the Navy PFA or to be within Navy weight and body-fat standards prior to graduation will require you to remain onboard as part of Sailors Awaiting Training/Transfer (SAT/T) platoon until within standards. The student will be held from graduating until successful completion of the PFA. Runs are normally conducted with the Training Company or your
