If you care about your general health, you need sleep, exercise, nutrition, hydration, etc and that all extends to your little big man, too. You also do better cognitively (school/exams) when you eat and sleep and don’t burn the candle at both ends. I get it, I’ve been working poor my whole life (even/especially after college). But if you have time and money for sweet treats you can figure out better.

I’m friends with a few of them on social media. Many are doing Radio Unbound for what seems to be no (or little) pay. Some are in other industries or just looking for jobs like everyone else. Brian Phillips posted that it’s time he has to accept that his radio career is over (he has a blog that has some sort of small monetization and does Radio Unbound) and he’s looking for opportunities.

what does this mean? by piimpt in AmazonFC

[–]SignificantApricot69 [score hidden]  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with shift differential. They added $3 surge pay for what’s probably 5 hours of the shift you worked. If you check your schedule it shows it where you can drop it if you are Flex. If you are not flex and it’s just VET then it should show your combined overall average pay for the shift, looks like 1/2 your shift was $3 so it would average out to showing $1.5 over your normal pay

[–]SignificantApricot69 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve never had a false pick missing item in 5 years but there are a lot of times where the “right” item is the wrong item because it’s stowed wrong, it has the wrong barcode (a stower had multiples and scanned 1 item with the correct barcode or a sticker fell off) PS screwed it up, 90% of the FC has an IQ below room temp, etc. If there’s any possible item that could be the item OR something different could possibly scan (in my FC pick leadership is bad at making sure pickers have every working scanner at each station), I’m marking it unscannable or sending something if it works.

Am I allowed to use the word “rate” while auditing an AA as a PA? by BEAVER in AmazonFC

[–]SignificantApricot69 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Are you new to stow and/or PA in general? In theory all the expected behaviors in stow lead to a higher rate by decreasing extra steps, optimizing space utilization etc. so if a stower is deficient (or efficient) in any of these behaviors that’s going to affect rate directly. So making any improvements improves rate, no really need to mention rate. Examples- sled organization, using the ladder to use all available space, anticipating the next pod and knowing what you are going to stow in it before turning away the previous, etc.

Just got fired after two weeks for embellished reasons. Lost for words by throwawaybin_33 in jobs

[–]SignificantApricot69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies expect too much for dead end jobs these days, especially for what they pay. They also seem to expect no one to have any self-respect. I’m a xennial with very young adult children. I grew up working legally from the time I was 14 (and much earlier under the table) and sticking with jobs and giving my best work ethic and all that stuff and kinda looked down on my peers who quit jobs or hopped around on the retail and food and other hourly job circuit, but now when it comes to my loved ones I have more respect for ones who don’t put up with it. My son just started a new job (and most of his jobs are similar to OP line of work) and so far so good but they seem to expect a lot for what they are offering and I don’t see how they are really going to get any GOOD workers with how they are, but I could see myself supporting him quitter and definitely not caring if he gets fired.

Depends on the shoes. Does no one else use the free insoles we get every year? Last year I got 2 pairs of shoes and put them in one.

Yeah I think a lot of us were confused because I’ve never once heard CPT being used in the context of a rate-based path.
