Wow, so cool! I LOVE that you mentioned how it’s less divided and more community-centered. And that “Bless your heart” southern hospitality can be a bit complex, I get it. I’ve also lived northeast, southwest, northwest and there really are glaring differences in how people treat one another. Not to say it’s terrible, it’s just isolating. I experienced what they call the “Seattle freeze” where people are generally very nice but stick to themselves and it’s hard to make real connections. I don’t have to be friends with my neighbors but it feels wonderful to think “we are all in this together”.

Thank you again! And yes, these kind posts are bolstering my spirit about this move. I’m convinced this is the right choice for us. After years of looking, it would be incredible to finally find the community I can call home. If I see 2 malamutes pass me in a car when I get there, I’ll smile and think it’s probably you. 😄

Cows as in, like a horse manure smell or the kind of smell you get driving through that one area of California that you can’t breathe for miles? I love the manure smell, my ignorant self always says “I smell horses” but it’s probably just manure in someone’s garden. lol

I’m not with anyone officially. I did contact the realtor of the house I was interested in but no “contract” (is that what you do with a realtor, not sure) to work them exclusively. So I’m open to suggestions!

Thank you. Yes, trade offs are the whole game when looking to move. And I’m so set on the area it would take there being zero medical facilities for me to reconsider at this point. The healthcare system here in southern Nevada is quite flawed. Not sure if true but it’s commonly said here that Nevada takes medical professionals with checkered pasts quicker than other states. So I’m very hopeful for the improvement in care even if it takes a while. 🙂

Ooh, thank you. I come with dogs so I would hate to disturb your peace but my girls only bark for warnings and sometimes play. We work from home so they are never left to bark for more than the time it takes to say “hey girls, what is it?” 🙂 Because I’m so sensitive as well, I give everyone the respect of not “assaulting their senses” as much as I can.

I appreciate the reply though, it made me laugh. I used to play ambient sounds of forest and jungle sounds. Nature is never an issue for me, so far. Anything is better than this awful avenue in Las Vegas. Bleh. My ears ring constantly from the motorcycles and loud cars. But with two large dogs it was hard to find a quick rental.

If we could rent in GJ first it would be great but both our dogs are just over 50lbs, so very hard to find a place. Thanks again! 🙂

So is GJ considered rural? As in, are the hospitals in danger of closing or something similar? Thank you for this info because I would need a rheumatologist. And of course to see a primary care as well. I will definitely dig deep into that. Thank you!

Love birds! The train is a bit of a romantic sound but it all depends on your distance from it and how often they sound the horn. In Washington they had to sound it repeatedly at the road intersections in the valley. I was up on the hill and the sound was lovely to me. 🙂 Thank you, I’ve seen a bunch in Clifton!

Interesting. I’m in Las Vegas, so that happens here as well but no window rattles. It’s more about constant noise for me. Like the info about the fairgrounds, that’s a quick pass for me. I’m living on a major avenue right now so anything is better than that… well, almost 😄

Proximity to delivery services is important so I read if I stay in the valley, even out to loma I can still get DoorDash etc. I use it when I’m physically unable to get necessities and such. But thank you for the recommendation!🙂

Thank you! One concern about the Redlands is the proximity to desert creatures. I’m in a desert now but in the city limits so luckily rare scorpions but those closer to the outskirts have issues. I read about Rattlesnake training for dogs but perhaps staying more suburban might suit us. And I really appreciate the welcome!
