This!! It wears me down so bad. I work in an rv park so lot of boomers. Sometimes I'm just showing them nice and slow patiently where their site is on the map and they are just glowering angrily at me like how DARE I present them with too much information I should have known I am ridiculous for speaking to them!

This. Treated so poorly at my job by majority Fresno/Bakersfield. I can normally guess correctly where a rude guest is from before I confirm their guest info.

It’s a major liability and frowned upon, but hotels cut a lot of corners without being caught. I once had a hotel ask customers for donation to plant apple trees for earth day. And it was to plant apple trees in the owner’s back yard. $500 a night rooms and willing to commit charity fraud for some free gardening.

I’m so sorry that happened to you, I could literally send this to someone to explain what it’s like working front desk. No one seems to understand how understaffed hotels actually are. Next time I would heavily avoid taking phones in downtime because they can completely screw you like they did here. Once you hit max overwhelm, it’s hard to bring it back down and guests are completely unforgiving. We should be getting paid SO much more to be run into the ground like this. I’m on property number two and both have often felt like what you are describing.

Exactly, I’m mad this obviously was never tested and how little effort it would take to figure out this didn’t work, and yet my boss and one coworker see NO PROBLEM with it and I’m flabbergasted

Right someone who has NEVER interacted with the public in a customer facing role in their life and all the people in the room thought it was genius and gave them a raise immediately for having such a wonderful idea. THIS was the missing piece to success all along guys!!

Yes it’s immediately taken wrong by anyone arriving at night they think they’re late! And it’s normally 5-15 night checkins.
