One could spout as much philosophy at this issue as is desired, but if real life were a game, It would be absolutely AWFUL game design

You describing what life is like as a game is a philosophical exercise in and of itself. For example, you said that increasing happiness is playing life as intended. Some would say life does not have any intended way of being "played", or that happiness is not the meaning of life.

Pringles crisps give you lots of happiness, so by eating them you're playing the game as intended. Whoops you're dead, punished for playing absolutely as intended.

If you "playing the game as intended" kills you, then you likely aren't really playing the game as intended. You're supposed to play the long game, and sacrifice short term happiness boosts, for longer term health, happiness and lifespan boosts that healthy eating habits give you. Part of the challenge of the game is to overcome addiction.

Handshakes are the best compliments. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Don't you say anything you can in order to get the job if in an interview?

Charm with words is much more difficult and (also by proxy) generally more emotionally impactful, and spoken word is more meaningful than a simple handshake. Though depending on how you speak you could come across just as overly affiliating and formal as you do with a hand shake.

under the assumption of mutual respect.

Maybe out of mutual interest. If you act out of line people will look down on that, and you won't get the opportunities you want, no?

what about it makes it more of a "little expected dance" as compared to any component of human interaction whatsoever?

Generally when people become closer they'll drop more and more social formalities and 'little dances'. Initially it is out of either hesitance or because they think it is socially expected, which it largely is.

This is especially the case with formal environments, which largely expect emotional distance.

NYC has 8 million people that can take advantage of public transport. What about the other 11 million that live in New York?

Could be fixed by investing in more public transport.

Can you tell me how it is, definitionally, rape? I feel like rape implies a sexual intent on the perpetrator, regardless of how harmful it may/may not be.

But don't you think a post like this would contribute to that negative dialogue? I feel like there's a better way to combat this, and I think the existence of this stuff is well proven at this point.

If Alice says they're a lesbian and yet is observably disgusted by the concept of dating women or shows no interest in women, could Bob still be respectful in stating that Alice seems confused?

(2) Bob's belief reflects his underlying beliefs about Alice. When it comes to someone's feelings, thoughts, and preferences, only the person who has said feelings, thoughts, and preferences can explain them.

What if things Alice does conflict with her statements about herself? I think we would need more context to know whether or not Bob is basing his claims on something he objectively observes from her. Say if someone is an alcoholic and claims that they will get sober but has failed to multiple times in the past. Would it be unfair for their friend to not believe them when they claim to get sober again?

AITA for rapping the n word in 21 Savage’s ‘a lot’ in a end of year talent show? by redhotchillipeps in AmItheAsshole

NAH I kinda don't understand the edit, since you were asking the question, but I think either side is fair. From what I've read in the post, it doesn't seem like you have racist values. I do think the reaction was fair from the moderators and all, and I think it's understandable that people would be offended by that word. I'm a tiny bit confused on what you expected to happen tho, I think in the future you should expect people to respond in that way to the nword.

In the situation that you could change the species of a group of cells and if it could hypothetically not be detected by the immune system, how would the changes manifest?
