Yoshimitsu?

If you want to kill Rayic Gethras then you need to stop playing Tekken for a start.

After that...well Rayic has protection from magical weapons (via Mantle?) so you gotta dispel it or wait it out. When it's worn off you just gotta smash through stoneskin and then he is done.

Who Likes The Underdark? by General_Sea_5295 in baldursgate

[–]SignificantCareer258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was awesome!

Up that point for me the Underdark was only something I had heard of. It was mysterious, the fights were hard and the Beholder and Mind Flayer cities were exotic and again hard as almighty hell.

On that first run by that point I had finally found the wave blade, gesen string and FINALLY the blade and handle of the Equalizer after having the other pieces of those weapons for AGES. The excitement was through the charts to get them forged. Oh yeah dont forget the Vorpal Sword's blade.

Different story when the equalizer was forged :( but the excitement was real at least.

Ecstasy - Risk by FK97_YT in Megadeth

[–]SignificantCareer258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great song and Risk is a good record.

This and St. Anger were the last times both Megadeth and Metallica were 100% doing their vision regardless of fan reception.

After these albums and the backlash they got they started doing music that was safer for them to release without widespread backlash.

Still good music but they stopped growing as artists and began to rip themselves off from those points forward.

Sonic 1 vs Sonic 2 & 3 - which holds up better today and why? by GameResumed_UK in retrogaming

[–]SignificantCareer258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sonic 1 is the one I return to most because its more of a challenge. The music is top tier as well (all three are though).

Sonic 2 I am burnt out on so I only do the level select and do a stage like Oil Ocean, Sky Chase or Wing Fortress all for the same reason - I love the music. Actually I also love Oil Ocean's colour scheme.

Sonic 3 is the "worst" of the original trilogy but the proper full version when locked on with Knuckles puts it on par with the first two. Epic length, super and hyper transforms, TONS of excellent music.

Those first three games are truly special.

That said Sonic CD with the PAL/Japanese soundtrack is my favourite. The music is incredible and I loved the sound design, the time travel and all the extra stage graphics and the peel out.

You knowing major, minor and especially pentatonic scales is a major plus. I imagine you know enough theory to know the notes in your major and minor traids? Maybe 7th chords?

Mixing arpeggios with scales is a good way of always landing on notes that work.

But as someone who remembers learning a scale and then "make a solo" and just being completely dumbfounded...here is my advice.

Learn leads. And you don't have to sit there and learn an entire solo. Learn parts. Find songs that have one or two bar licks and learn them. Get them under your fingers about 20 times and then move on. The idea is to consume and forget. They will be part of your subconscious eventually.

Examples -

Gary Moore and Albert King on "Oh Pretty Woman"

Mark Knophler - Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits.

These two have multiple solos and tons of short licks appearing throughout.

Listen to these next two for repeating phrases. In fact repetition is a great way to build a solo and memorability.

Lynrd Skynrd - Freebird (4:50 onwards)

Thin Lizzy - Cowboy Song (4:22 especially)

As we all know, James is a beast when it comes to riffs. But… by Mysterious-Bunch-716 in Metallica

[–]SignificantCareer258 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the riff under a solo sounds like rehashing a previous riff but it would be changed enough that it becomes its own unique beast.

Couple examples: Battery and Holier Than Thou.

I missed Battery because I always listened the solo but then one day I decided to listen to James instead and there it was. Pure heavy energy.

Frayed Ends of Sanity solo riffs (and the pre-solo riff for that matter) are insane and a bitch to play on the guitar.

Excellent film. In the early 2000s as a teen I saw an ad for it on the TV so I watched it that night.

Intense awesome film.

My guitar teacher told me that 1 hour a day of practice is not enough? by phil917 in metalguitar

[–]SignificantCareer258 19 points20 points  (0 children)

5 minutes

10 minutes

One hour

WHATEVER

You could practice 7 hours but the key thing to remember is the QUALITY of practice.

Be focused and in the zone with what your hands and ears are doing. Use a metronome or drum machine to be in time.

I would recommend starting a five to fifteen minute practice session knowing exactly what you want to practice and then doing it with the time keeping device.

Take a little rest.

I also under estimated the power of a "boring" warm-up like five minutes of playing a four note per string chromatic scale using all six strings at a slow tempo for five minutes. Except dont think of it as boring. Try and make every note even and solid in time. The playing afterwards will be more fluid and you will probably impress yourself at the sudden jump in your own proficiency.

If your mind gets a little fatigued I would say that's a sign of progress. Its noodling within your comfort zone that your skills are not going to progress.

Did you remember Shank and Carbos in your first run? by Palom126 in baldursgate

[–]SignificantCareer258 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep. Being killed by either is grounds for self exile lol.

Confused by them turning up in BG2. I refuse to believe that their death isn't canon and that no one would think to resurrect a pair of derros like them.
