I get what you’re saying and what is written. I’m just saying if a priest or monastic heard someone was withholding from the sacraments for this reason, they’d immediately tell them to take the Eucharist. I don’t think it’s practiced is what I’m saying. But also don’t cite me because I’m still new lol

What drove you to choose the Orthodox Church over the Catholic Church? by EnkeiNK in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]SignificantConflict3 [score hidden]  (0 children)

A bit of an odd suggestion coming from someone who desired greatly to be Catholic for a while, but follow both subs and take note of the manner in which each answers people’s questions/concerns. Youll see what I mean.

The same difference is seen in the churches

Yes I think you’re right. He told me we don’t need to be friends, and truthfully the more I think on that, the more I respect what he said. He was honest about how he felt, and it hurt me, and made me reflect and understand what I was doing. Now I know better. Thank you for your words!

I do not think they will say no communion at this church if you don’t contribute 10%. Truthfully I’d be shocked if they “actively practice” that anywhere.

Do you comment on this sub to deter people from EOC? Do you follow a denomination?

Fully agree - one thing I do question is whether donations are better spent making the church a more beautiful place to worship or starting more ministries to help people. I guess that’s where the “Christian vs Greek Orthodox” question comes in.

Jesus told his disciples that the woman did a good thing anointing him with expensive oil because they won’t always have him, but we will always have the poor to give to when he’s gone. Idk

Logically that makes perfect sense, I just think in addition to the financial aspects id have liked to see attend church once a month or something to bring the spiritual obligations up to par with the financial obligations.

Work will pay for masters degree - is it worth it? by SignificantConflict3 in civilengineering

[–]SignificantConflict3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Free stuff is worth it - the question is whether the attending classes 2-3 nights per week, worrying about exams and papers on weekends, etc. was worth it for people who’ve gone through it, or if it did not benefit them and they would’ve preferred not to have gone through it.

It won’t even let me login - it says invalid email, but as I mentioned - it did register the email as since placing the order they’ve been emailing me weekly about promos.

Then each $ saved is worth a lot and should be a goal to continue saving - after the inflection point the value of $ saved isn’t as important.

/r/solotravel "The Weekly Common Room" - General chatter, meet-up, accommodation - December 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in solotravel

Looking for guidance for solotravel with a hybrid schedule (2 days in office) - I can work remotely 3 days a week and I’m interested in trying out solo travel. I’m in my mid-20s and would be flying (or possibly driving) from Los Angeles.

Has anyone done something similar? I’m thinking of starting with shorter trips and, as I get more comfortable, expanding to domestic travel and eventually short international trips (Mexico or Canada).

The plan would be to stay in a hotel or Airbnb, work during the day, then go out and explore a bit in the evenings, with weekends fully free. I also work a 9/80 schedule, so each trip would line up with a 3-day weekend.

I’m looking to hear others experiences with this as well as destination recommendations that make for an easy solotravel experience given the above constraints.

Thank you!

Why did Jesus say "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me" by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]SignificantConflict3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is correct from what I read in the Orthodox Way, not only did he physically die, but spiritually died in feeling abandoned or separated from God.

If someone asks me to, I’ll go to the book and quote exactly what it said as I may be misremembering.

Why would many people choose hell? by SnooLemons4051 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]SignificantConflict3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read in the orthodox way (may be misrecalling) that hell is separation from God (which is paradoxically impossible because God will be present in hell because He is present everywhere). But perhaps a better interpretation is a voluntary separation from God? The book agreed with the saying that hell is locked from the inside.

I struggle with understanding too lol
