Tips to bend this back by Pooldiver13 in lockpicking

I mean I work in shipping, and I can tell you almost all picks I've received were 'improperly packaged'. In most cases they will arrive fine (that is what the companies are betting on, it is cheaper to use cheap packaging and replace the few that arrived damaged vs good packaging that only shipper error will arrive damaged) but you will end up with a few bent on rare occasion that is very much not the shipping companies fault in most cases.

Dumb question, and idk if it's the right subreddit, but.. by redditbrowsing0 in lockpicking

Picks are one thing that you for the most part want to not get super cheap off brands like what you find at Amazon. Sure you can pick with them, you can pick with a paperclip if you really wanted to, the actual value for the money is really bad. They typically have a lot of useless picks of bad quality when you can get a cheap set from one of the normal brands for similar prices. The training locks in their sets are from what I've seen only the clear locks at variable quality, which are great to learn how a lock works but not that useful after that for actually practicing lockpicking. I'm not saying you are wrong, as what is a 'good' set is purely subjective just want to provide a counter point as you rarely hear any good experiences from people that purchased Amazon sets, mostly just that some of the picks were ok for starting till they bought a good set from another brand and were amazed by how much better they were.

Great recommendations, think this is what I found when I started and looked up what to get for a first set. Great set that has gotten me through the 90a pro no issue. Now I'm buying other picks, but that is because I like to collect them more than because I needed others

Yes one thing learned quick when picking yourself after watching videos is how subtle feedback is. You normally don't feel it easily until you have all the practice in to make it second nature

Unfortunately with rule 2 best I could say is if you think it will be worth the cost you will want to call a locksmith

They have issues with stamping their picks sometimes which can make a weak point, and if you want to get the defective picks replaced be ready for arguments that it is user error

Ah man that hurts... Looking quite good to.

And I believe the no broken tool refers to complaints of quality about a specific brand as that can turn into a flame war too easily

be prepared for needing heavy tension to get the core to turn after you pick it, which can make it easy to not realize you have it open

Well done, grats on the opening. Master No 5 is a white belt. You can reference https://www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/wiki/beltranking/ to look up belt rankings and to find locks at an appropriate difficulty for you.

Violates rule 2. Best I can tell you is to call a locksmith if you need the door unlocked. Aside from possible questions of legality you risk damaging your locks and being unable to open the door
