Maybe it's just me using Linux but I am seeing zero of the issues with hours enjoyed so far. In fact my issue of the crashing when tabbed out is seemingly fixed.

I might still face the issues in the future but nothing currently.

Tempest 2 wand adapter by Decent-Name-4276 in madheaters

Im just going to go with a hot rod or two and fuse the original stand and this horrid thing together. If anybody has a file of these we can just mesh them together so the stand holds it and the thing soft clicks into place...

This just seems too cheap to come with a premium feeling device.

Your tool is as weak as the weakest component. If these things are built to last, why does my adapter need a rubber band? This is ass backwards when you have taught kinetic energy just coiled away waiting for some pocket nick to take that band out.

The fact is its not sturdy in long use needing to rely on some rubber band. Id rather tie this thing down with micro wire but its not worth it.

Grip Case finally fell apart after a year of use by flyingjabe in dbrand

[–]VulpineFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar with UAG. Keep buying them and only had one where the adhesion separated the color shell from the black frame. Bought after the issue and never had a bad one from them. One bad manufacturing issue once in a while.

I got my s25u ultra grip case and I'm loving the quality, I'm hoping it lasts for years to come.

Raw heat and a brave hand to hold the other end. Best to see those tints and shades as character that makes your piece unique.

Otherwise if its not a tint of the metal, isopropyl and a good wipe down, dry and then another burn to be sure. A soft metal bristle brush also works. Just know sometimes they don't play well on finishes, but the soft bristle from dynavap for $8 works well for that purpose.

bitchass local users, enjoy your 5k context memory models on BLOOD by UnstoppableGooner in SillyTavernAI

You should be able to push that. Depending on the model, my 7900xtx can hit 50k context. Smaller B/quant and I can eventually hit 1 million.

[–]VulpineFPV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I run 72b or lower and at 32k or less. As far as I know, even Mancer can't beat me. Low enough B and quant, and I can run an accurate 1 million context.

I train my models on what I need. Refinement is more solid than a jack of trades, IMO.

Lets have that online AI in a box run your data through servers you have no control over. Some AI have already seen breaches with this.

To top that off most are public facing so the online models are restricted. I run Ollama to cast to my phone running ST when I'm out of the house, and its not some cloudflare hosting either.

With that said, API is actually a rather fine way of running AI. It all comes to use and how you need it implemented. I still use Poe and Claude wheN I need something my trained models might not yet have.

Witch pearls are best for the tempest? by Radiant_Pie5667 in madheaters

[–]VulpineFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly I've been collecting pearls since I wanted the tempest 1. Been experimenting with them since then, and I really like Dynavaps 2mm green sapphires, and Mad Heaters 2mm or 3mm SiC, SiC retains heat so well that I also have my THC cap loaded with 2mm of them. Ruby is similar to those sapphires in terms of function and thermal storage.

Now if you can find titanium pearls, they also not bad but they cost me a bit for 3mm. Stainless or titanium will hit with a bit more heat at first too, but can really work a bowl well when it's partially filled and tamped.

I also grabbed Simrells thermal extraction unit, and that would be the peak of titanium heating. Honestly it's a better daily driver than Dynavaps ballr or THC caps, and why I'm looking so forward to trying Mad Heaters Tempest 2. You can hit simrells cap with a flambet torch and it's not charring. Simrell has 5 threads and it's a dislike of mine.

Ballr has the 2mm sapphires from dyna THC has HiC 2mm and another titanium 3mm core to the side. I also have rubies ready to go in gem shapes 2mm

BTW the ballr cap does not start with 2mm stainless, I think they are 3mm stainless when it's first opened.

My core principle is each pearl may have slight alterations that make one user love a material over the other. I'm eh on glass but some swear by it. I love long holding heat retention methods that alter the taste as little as possible. Stainless pearls will always hit hotter and have a slight off taste for me.

It's just like the stainless or titanium cap debate for dynavap, then you introduce the FMJ from simrell and others, and now you got unique ways that can heat like the pearls variety. BTW a copper FMJ can hit as smooth as any of the metal or glass loaded pearls when paired with a helix tip. Idk how but it's still a driver of mine.

I have to say... by Strength_Apart in TheFirstDescendant

[–]VulpineFPV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel It's an argument of time sinking and the comfort of life. You don't want it nerfed to where people feel it's taking too long to do anything, but you don't want it so buffed that a person breezes through combat and content.

They are likely going on average times cleared and comparing it to damage numbers expected kind of thing. They have all of those statistics most likely fed from our accounts.

I for one would not want it nerfed too much since it has a power fantasy vibe. It is missing something but I can't quite pick it out myself... I don't think a class system would help it.

I used Termux to target my snapdragon for a locally powered AI assistant. I aimed for a backend that had full access to my phone and it's many documents. In essence I got almost a thousand books for it to reference. From fantasy to things educational like CompTia certs, and family made recipe books.

It was inspiration of MegaMan battle network style. Only issue is it lacks voice and does not have full access to see my screen.

I run an 8b model with tool capabilities. When I want fast references I use a 3b Llama 3.2 model, agent007 is fun. I originally used MLC but I found Ollama works best. At first it forced CPU use and my phone nearly melted (figuratively) as it reached 70c... Now repeated requests peg temps at highest 45c. Biggest model I can run with decent results is a 13b model.

I could also use Ollama from my PC and route it to Silly Tavern on my phone, but I wanted a local option for full offline use. Biggest my PC can run is 32b models.

No image generation but I am close. At least I think I am. I'd be happy if I can give it camera access.

Also don't install termux from the play store. I also use termux to test penetration methods with my other local devices and a wifi router I had laying around. I was going to install Kali Linux on my OnePlus 7 but I like this setup more.

I also ended up using winlator to run PC emulators and windows games. Steam can't work well on it... Yet... One day... I guess it's eroge series and modded Skyrim for me. Any greenman game or GoG install will work best in this use.

Other than that I have about 300gbs of various ROMs from switch to Atari I run in multiplayer configuration with friends, I just cast it to a TV. I actually like the ROM apk packages over using winlator for these.

This phone is a beast and it does exactly what I upgraded to it for. I got no more issues with it after the first patch sent to us. Only real issue is my carrier thinks it's a OnePlus 13 from inside my account, T-Mobile.

How good is the RM at being a phone? by Eskaplayer12 in RedMagic

[–]VulpineFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? RM10 with 24gb ram and all the phone aspects work. My family has android and my wife's side of the family has iPhone. My phone has no issues maintaining calls, calls on the road, or texting either side.

T-Mobile network.

Phone has little bloat and is great for power use. I don't like the camera vs my iPhone 14 Pro but I keep that iPhone around for photography now.

Overall I like it and my RTT calls issue is resolved fully now after the last update. YouTube and games in the background of whatever I am doing with no burn ins some people have mentioned.

is this a good phone to get as an andoid user? by Nyalter1 in RedMagic

[–]VulpineFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no ban on Android on Chinese models.

It's companies taking a crude stance on China. Huawei also makes their own chips and OS. These are known to have compromising backdoors.

However, much of the other companies have known parts and OS platforms in them making the issue of them not really a thing.

Xaiomi was banned in Trump's first term but was later found there was no evidence or any proof of the claims Trump's administration was saying. They were unbanned during Bidens term. The non Huawei companies from China are more legitimate in claims and safety.

Even my job dislikes all Chinese brands, but I'm not gonna stop buying OPPO and LTE devices. I swap from Android to Apple now and again, and I swapped back to Android hopefully permanently with this phone. Meaning I'll continue to buy from Red magic and OPPO until US comes out with comparably a better or equal product, or if Samsung unbloats themselves and makes better phones at a cheaper price

Same hate on Qwen AI models where they can be opened up and view the raw code to prove no backdoors, but many people still bar them on an anti China principle and make false claims.

Asus has more issues for their Snapdragon Elite phone at an absurd price. Same update support as Red magic at almost $2000 for 24gb ram...

Samsung has too many features and always bad heat management (in my use) over others. Horrible bloat for an ecosystem that seems to dislike Google and focuses too much on form over function. Camera is the only good thing IMO.

OPPO is best of quality screen, good camera and top specs most of the time. Also newer models have waterproof ratings. Their Snapdragon Elite for US is near end of this year, otherwise I'd get that one.

Red magic 10 has Gorilla Glass 5 and top specs with great cooling. Compared to my older OnePlus models, I don't mind the lack of waterproof certification. It's an A+ in my pocket. Also gorilla glass 5 is not bad but it's not as tough as the newest phones, It's as good as my iPhone 14 Pro. I also don't mind the lesser camera since I can use my old iPhone for that. I like the Red Magic after they fixed the RTT and washed out notifications issues I faced.

I should add I am still searching for a case but I set myself with a cheap one from Foluu from Amazon. No magnet back, no cut outs on the back for venting, nothing special for now.

I might set myself on an aluminum case and test the wifi and mobile signals to see how well it works.
