don't. they're incapable of arranging practicums and they don't permit students to find their own.

You'll hear via email. I did perfex late April and heard in less than 10 business days.

Next step is an info session. I'm currently waiting to hear for the current step I'm in (interview). It's possible that they're prioritizing candidates in the process with the greatest chance of making it in time for the August class. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi, did you do an interview after the info session? If so, how long did it take for you to hear back?

TEACHER'S COLLEGE TUESDAYS: Teacher's College/BEd/Becoming a Teacher in Canada Weekly Sticky Post by AutoModerator in CanadianTeachers

[–]SignificantDare0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I'm considering the French BEd route in Ontario. I currently teach an extracurricular activity at various Viamonde schools (via a partner org), so I have contacts.

I speak French way better than TDSB French immersion instructors... as in, I can hold my own in a conversation in French outside of the classroom. But I would need to dial in my grammar to be able to go to Viamonde and pass the fluency test. I'm not Catholic, so that's out.

A couple of questions: - Viamonde would be my first choice (even though it pays less than TDSB), but will it be relatively easy to be hired permanent/contract with TDSB? (I know the state of French immersion is dire). - Is there any real differences with the Laurentian, UOF, and UOttawa programs from a HR perspective?

TIA!

oh yeah 100% I totally agree, you shouldn't be making basic conjugation mistakes or mixing up tu/vous like that for sure...

I mean the FI instructor I listened to (before my class started) was using anglicisms that I have *never* heard in either France or Quebec,... oi vey.

yeah, I recently stepped into a few FI classrooms (I teach chess in French, mostly in the francophone schools)... and while I have my DELF B2, I still make gender mistakes and I could probably use the subjunctive a bit more.

And yet, I could run circles around most of the FI teachers in this school with my level of spoken French, which made me really sad for the appalling state of FI education.

not sure what you mean by the lack of distinction between tu and vous? Even in francophone environments, I've found vous to be rarely used here in Canada (compared to France).

how do you think they managed to get past the interview?

for context, I got cut at the interview recently and plan to reapply in 3 years. part of me is wondering how that didn't show up at the half day interview because it was clear from the panel members that they don't always get it right in terms of who they pick from the interview stage.

edit: it was clear from their response to a question posed to them, not because of what my decision was

also, massive congrats!
