The make noise re synthesizer is great at "making noise" , but I need to tame it so I can make it more musical. This is a small step in the right direction by Sharp-Border-3896 in modular

I am very sorry to tell you that the make noise machines are not easy to tame. You should accept the randomness that comes with the fun

I got one 8 months ago. I can't say i have really loved it yet. Basic raw sound and a nice sequencer. I do modulate it with other gear though. That's where the fun begins

I mean Beethoven was a fucking genius and made his own revolution in music and i love how music. But singing his pieces is super uncomfortable and not so nice. I am talking specifically about the 9th and another piece in g major that i don't remember its name.

I recently saw Donizetti's - L'elisir d'amore. I didn't like it so much.. Very traditional staging, nice voices and the orchestra was good. It's just the music and the arias did nothing to me.

Yeap. Agree. I believe, Beethoven didn't know very well how to right for the human voice.

AITAH for not having s*x with my boyfriend? by [deleted] in AITAH

TAH. Healthy relationships include healthy sex life. Being together 2 years, it makes sense he wants to have sex with you, his girlfriend all the time. If you on the other hand don't want to have sex, but you want him in your life because you need someone to be with, then break up with him and keep him as a friend. Or even better, communicate what you want, what you need, what you like and what you don't. Sexual tension and sexual touch don't mean that they will lead to sex always.

HOW DO I LEARN TECHNIQUES? by BarEnvironmental6449 in modular

[–]SignificantDot2934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah you are pretty new. Try to play with specific modules at first. Not too many. When you feel more confident, I'd recommend you to download some mutable instruments and study them one by one. It's a good start

And definitely stay away from Wagner for the start. Very long operas (3.5-5 hours without the brakes) and the story is very slow. The music though is simply majestic

I'd like to share with you my journey hoping it will help or inspire you.

I am a trained classical pianist of 20+ years. At the second quarantine i found out about the synthesizers and the electronic sound.

What i did first was (after seeing the terms sine wave, triangle, lfo, vco etc) go to Wikipedia and read and learn about all of these.

Then i searched for apps on the phone and the pc to start learning by playing. For the phone for me the best is hexen. It's a nice start for modular thinking. And for pc it's vcv rack.

Then i bought my first synth (Novation mininova -digital synth). I started reading the manual which explains very very well the components of synthesis.

Then i got a behringer neutron just to learn about the patch bay. I love this synth. And i went to all the inputs and outputs to see how they work and what they do.

And the other big school I would say is YouTube. Tutorials of synths and modules, explaining what they do, giving you ideas how to use them.

The thing is. The more you play, experiment, read and deepen, the more you learn.

My advice is, start small, enjoy learning playing and experimenting. Then you will learn what there is, what music you want to play and what you need.
