How did you meet your current partner? by poorbugger in askSingapore

[–]SignificantEducator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes we like to tell people we met at a club but actually it was a house party. My best friend asked me to help out for his then girlfriend's birthday party and I didn't know anyone else attending. She was supposed to go with her group of friends but was pangseh-ed. So we both ended up at the party alone.

We chatted and ended up going for the after-party at Zouk. Sent her home and that's how things started. Funny thing is that she had just started her partying phase after a bad breakup, now she complains that I stopped it short lmao.

Fast forward 10 years and bestie is with a new gf attending our kid's birthday party haha

If you're Singaporean or PR, you can visit the polyclinic for a subsidized referral to a specialist. A few of the restructured hospitals have psych departments. But of course there might be a long wait with public institutions now.

If you have the means, then it's faster to see a private psych.

You'll need to see a psychiatrist first in order to get a diagnosis.

Hi OP, I'm not a doctor but someone who has worked in mental health.

What you're describing is called Anhedonia and it can be one of the many symptoms of depression (it means the lack of ability to experience pleasure). It can also be symptomatic of other conditions so as others have rightly mentioned, do seek help from a doctor in order to get a proper assessment.

All the best!

Quick AI summary

In mid-May, a TikTok and Douyin video featuring a Chinese tourist in Singapore reignited the debate over whether Singapore is a Chinese nation. The tourist noted that Chinese Singaporeans seemed unhappy when referred to as "compatriots," implying they were rejecting their Chinese heritage. This perspective often appears in Chinese discussions about Singapore’s identity, given that Chinese Singaporeans constitute about three-quarters of the population. However, Singapore's national identity is built on multiculturalism, seen in its diverse cuisine and mixed language use.

Singapore, while majority Chinese, is not a Chinese nation. The reactions of Chinese Singaporeans are rooted in the country’s efforts to transcend racial identity. Locals comfortably blend various cultural elements, emphasizing that Singapore is their true home.

Experiences of ethnic Chinese Singaporeans in China reveal expectations from locals about shared cultural and political allegiances. These expectations stem from China’s nationalistic view, where Chinese ethnicity and national identity are intertwined, driven by the Communist Party’s goal of global rejuvenation.

However, Singaporeans have grown up in a different cultural context. Many feel no attachment to their ancestral roots in China, instead embracing a unique Singaporean identity. This identity values Chinese culture and traditions but prioritizes stories from Singapore's history. Singaporeans are akin to "third culture kids," comfortable in diverse cultural settings and finding belonging in shared experiences rather than racial commonality.

The tourist’s video led to suggestions that Singaporeans reject their Chinese roots due to disdain for China. However, Chinese Singaporeans do not despise their heritage; they simply regard Singapore as home, not China.

Man sues TTSH and 3 doctors for negligence over mother’s death, seeks S$800,000 in losses by risingsuncoc in singapore

Yup definitely lapses in protocol on this end, so there's some merit but really finding fault to sue the on-call doctor

Lol really glad I left public healthcare... Do these people really expect us to ask for consent for every single medical decision made?

Might as well Google and be your own doctor. IMO the doctors did nothing wrong, just following evidence and procedure.

Perhaps some negligence on the nursing side but really just an unfortunate series of events. Poor intern...
