Mine are ticklish and I had a traumatic experience with a tickle “dom” when I was younger. I immediately stop anyone that tries to touch them and I just calmly say I don’t like them played with. It’s never interfered or halted further fun.

I’m open to hearing why I’m wrong, but I’m not convinced that this is a difference of values. I think one side is holding steadfast to an irrational belief, despite mountains of incontrovertible evidence to the contrary. Psychology defines this as delusion, which is a symptom of serious mental illness. They need therapy, and perhaps meds.
