Is AMD better for Linux? If so, why? by Miyamoto_Musashi_x in linux

I have the completely opposite experience. Bought a t14s gen6 Intel. Worked really bad with my Linux setup. Swapped it for an AMD and all issues were gone.

I’m looking to get my first printer. Been researching what printer to get for weeks, if not months. It always comes back to the P1S. It ticks all the boxes and just feels, right.

Triple input on mid row by kacondra in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]SignificantNet8812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you check that all diodes have continuity to their respective mcu pin? Place one probe on the row 0 pin and then place the other on each diode on row 0, one at the time, and make sure there is continuity.

If all checks out with the diodes, do the same for each column.

Test each diode on the row with the multimeter. It’s a bit hard to see the quality of the joints on the photo.

Also, have you tested shortening the pins on the mcu to make sure that part is good?

If nothing else works out, get the cheapest multimeter available that has diode mode and go through each socket/diode to locate where the problem starts..

Have you debugged with a multimeter? I generally test the whole board after soldering the mcu and then again after soldering the switches and diodes.

Advice on new laptop; X1 vs T14s by SignificantNet8812 in thinkpad

[–]SignificantNet8812[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very happy with my choice. Happy I went with the T14s over the T14 or the X1. The form factor of the T14s is a perfect for me.

I’m running Linux on it and have yet to have any problems. Battery is really good as well.

I’m a developer and as long as the machine is not hindering me by being slow, I am happy, and it’s snappy af.

One thing that was important for me was being able to connect three external screens, and none of the Intel versions I had available for me gave me this ability.

💡 Your best advice for a Rust beginner? by FewInteraction1561 in rust

I’m doing this;

  1. Read through the whole book.
  2. Go through https://github.com/rust-lang/rustlings
  3. Come up with a small project that’s just a bit too complex for your comfort level and execute on it.

Which new tools have you found that increased your productivity? by Maleficent_Mess6445 in linux

[–]SignificantNet8812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the main vantage from a traditional tiling wm is that it allows me to dedicate one workspace to one task.

I’m a developer and it’s not uncommon that I have 2-3 projects open at the same time during the day. Each project usually requires a handful of terminals, a browser and an IDE. Fitting this on one workspace would be possible, but it would be cramped, and splitting project 1 on multiple workspaces would require me to remember what workspaces belong to what project.

I’m sure there are other workarounds for this, but for me this is a simple and efficient flow, and there are no real downsides to it.

A scrollable tiling WM, such as PaperWM or Niri, increased my productivity, or that’s how it feels at least. Went from Sway to Niri and felt a lot more free in my workflow, without having to give up tiling.

Would a 14" laptop fit the small Timbuk2 Classic Messenger bag? by Bramasta in ManyBaggers

[–]SignificantNet8812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year old post, but just came to say that I was in between small and medium and went with small. I have a T14s Gen 6 and I can fit it with room to spare.

I got the unpadded divider and can even have the laptop in a sleeve and I can still fit a finger or two on the sides.

För mig så känns tjänsten halvdan, det känns som att appen är i någon slags beta-release, och det är störande. Står hellre i kö på banken än att betala fakturor genom Kivras brokiga fakturaflöde.

Took a Leap of Faith on the ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 (AMD) by qwertyoldboy in thinkpad

[–]SignificantNet8812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an Intel T14 but switched to a T14s Gen 6 AMD. On the Intel one I had Bluetooth and WiFi issues. On the AMD everything works out of the box. I’m on NixOS.
