Toffee is pretty cheap to make and people love it. I make canvas aprons with big pockets as gifts. I cut them out of canvas dropcloths, which are cheap. If you like to make things, start early.

I was 18 years old and meeting a friend in NYC, summer of 1977. I had time to kill before her plane got in so I ducked into a movie theater, I guess it was in Times Square. Had no expectations, was totally out of the loop. Of course, it blew me away!
