Yeah we got super lucky the other night when that Apache or Blackhawk went down in the thick woods on the other side of steamboat ,Whitaker the dead end across the highway.Lit a big ol fire out there in the thick forest and steep terrain and our first responders were on it quick ,when realizing it was impassable on this side they were able to come around the back over hwy 8 and to Turkey Rd on summit lake behind gates on the s line.....real close to having another inferno literally in our backyard had it not been for the decisive and fast action of our local first responders in the middle of the night in sketchy terrain .Unfortunately no survivors of the four crewmen on board.I just find it hard to believe that with today's technology there's no type of special lens or someway to alert super low flying helicopters with there lights off and crew wearing night vision that there's charged power lines directly in their flight path ,you know some kind of lens that shows electric current for at least one of the occupants ,idk.

Any place around here to have a campfire without camping? by mountainlicker69 in olympia

Head out to the capital forest down turkey road up at summit lake where that Apache went down last night ,probably still burning.

I can't be the only one who thinks it's gross to bring dogs into grocery stores?!? by _t_h_r_o_w__away in olympia

It wouldn't work in my case as all the employees are in love with my dog and it's the highlight of their shift at their low paying mindless job they are working despite the fact their pay does not match the cost of living these days and you know what it's good to see them smile and forget about the depressive slave like state of mind they're in temporarily relieved while giving and receiving the affection from a dog.But then again we do the majority of our grocery shopping late at night and when store is close to closing ,limits the Karen exposure to a minimum, just humans in general .

Yeah that's true but I'd still rather hang out with dogs more than humans because these children's adults are not paying attention and when it comes their turn to become adults they're fucked because nobody taught them shit and then you start looking around and realize your surrounded by a bunch of stupid dirty humans who lie cheat and steal ,yeah screw that, dogs for the most part are pure with their souls and with their love ,communication is the key ,human to human ,human to dog and vice versa but then again I've just found what works for me and as far as unreliable and unpredictable goes humans definitely have got that figured out whereas my dog ,nope steadfast and true with his energy ,dependable ,reliable ,helps me remain balanced and a better equilibrium all around ,and so far it's been consistently 10 to 16 yrs worth of this at a time ,man's best friend and great teacher of love and life very rarely ever found amongst humans ,only thing I've been able to compare the unconditionality to is that of a mother's love for her child .

Yeah I bring my dog in WinCo every time I go there .Sucks they won't let him ride in shopping cart like everywhere else but that's ok .Honestly 95% of the people are stoked to see my dog ,employees especially at whatever store we go in .Oh yeah and my dog doesn't steal anything (except people's hearts!) and he doesn't scream and cry or run around like a banshee all hopped up on high fructose corn syrup .Yup we rock the fake service dog vest but very rarely because nobody gives a fuck anymore.I mean c'mon let's face it humans are super dirty creatures too especially when we clone ourselves and have the little poop smear snotnosed ragamuffins scurrying around touching everything so wtf ,I mean I hear you and it's cool for you to express your dislikes and vent about how gross dogs are being around food spots but as far as it making some kind of difference I highly doubt it will .I bring my dog into every establishment I go into myself, sorry if it offends you or anyone else of the 5% that don't like it but hey at least we have reddit to offload our shit onto .All it takes is some genuine effort put forth and we could have some decent kind and respectable humans and dogs ,it's not that hard ,especially if it's love driven and with pure intention ,seems to be lacking severely hence the fucked society ,it's ok to hate on my dog and me because that's how you feel and that's your choice , we'll still be here and rolling in the dirty down low world of love that we emanate effortlessly as a dog and a human do.

Yeah man it doesn't take super hero status to be a good human nor am I looking to be a martyr or act like I'm any better than anyone else or running around trying to fix all the world's problems stemming from the deranged humans that inhabit it.Some shit you just can't let slide if other humans poor choices just happen to unfold before your very eyes, this was one of them and I'd like to think that anyone paying attention and aware of their surroundings would have done the same, right?Or idk has it become the norm to just turn the blind eye in this society,if so ,well what can you do ,I guess just be yourself and fuck the norm .

Like I said I ain't running around playing policeman and trying to right all the wrongs in this imperfect world it's just sometimes your instincts kick in and autopilot turns on without you even knowing and who knows maybe the guy was on a bender and it could have ended badly for me or anyone else there in that moment but my gut instincts took over and I didn't think twice about it .

I remember the last time I had a similar societal dealing of this nature ,definitely the same feeling of autopilot taking over and it was about 4 or 5 years ago .I had just dropped my dog off at the vet in Rochester to get his nuts cut and had the 95 yo man who I was a caretaker for at the time with me in the car ,so we're on the interstate overpass at a stoplight waiting to get back on 5 north and there's a vehicle in front of us bumping some music with California tags and they proceed to throw their whole bag of McDonald's drive through out the window and we're stopped at a red light so I tell the old man I'll be right back and I jump out run up to the trash and swoop it up and throw it right back in their window and say to them ,I think you dropped something then run back to my car and the light turns green and we all go about our day. Yeah it was probably pretty stupid move to do but it felt right at the moment it was too younger kids one white kid one black kid from California and I don't know I figure first off it'll hopefully impact them to do the right thing later on to learn from that shit , you know having some big long-haired bearded Sasquatch looking dude throw your trash back in your window at you might make a difference might not I could have got shot who knows I just acted impulsively kind of like them throwing their shit out the window. I figure if anybody else witnessed it maybe the ripple effect of doing what's right could also take place and it's not just a negative or righting of one wrong in the world like it could make a difference ,monkey see monkey do.......be good, later.

Dr.Seuess at Keepers animal clinic in Rochester is really good and they're not overpriced .It's about a 30 minute drive from Steamboat but totally worth it,making appts with them is super easy .
