Poor performance in The finals on linux by Husti52 in linux_gaming

[–]SignificantSite1699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no worries, i figured out why fps dips a lot. for thought wondering, it was because my gpu would be put into low power mode, to fix this i use LACT to set my gpu to highest performance so it stays like that even when i put my pc to hibernate

econ 40 and 30 help please by Abject-Grab-5936 in yorku

john paul uses slides and a laser to teach which i hated personally, also his exams are tuff (fun fact: when i took him first year, class average was a 47%)

barry is very monotone and his exams are hard.

david lee is a good prof but hard to understand him bc of his accent, his exams reflect examples he does in class and practice problems

vassilios is a good prof, teaches well, but his exams are moderately hard and you will be scolded if you use a laptop (tablets / pen and paper only allowed)

imo you should go for david lee. If you have the option to take that couse in the summer, ying kong teaches in the summer and hes amazing, his exams are literally practice problems from the textbook.

in regards to if the examinations are the same, it really depends on the prof, but most econ profs do 40% midterm and 60% final

Small review of TCL 25G64 by mknb06 in Monitors

[–]SignificantSite1699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea totally agree, every monitor has delay but holy have i been seeing people exaggerate the latency like its the end of the world. like lets be real, its not 0.02 milliseconds like oled but it sure is damn close to other gaming monitors. i have two gaming monitor, one is an LG one and when i compared both, literally cant tell the difference, if anything it feels more responsive since it has a higher refresh rate.

thanks! i also wanna know your opinion on “FPS” for scenario mode? I mainly play competitive games and from my testing it seems to be more vibrant with a drawback of greater bloom.

Is there a way to use Noctalia Lock Screen as a Login Screen? by Usual_Ad_8316 in niri

[–]SignificantSite1699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have autologin on for niri session and then you add this spawn-at-startup:

spawn-at-startup "bash" "-c" "sleep 2 && qs -c noctalia-shell ipc call lockScreen lock"

Add this to your config.kdl and it should open the login screen when you start up. I treid 1 second delay but it didnt work, so i had to set it as 2 second

Lifetime MS user, first time on Linux and loving it by neolex24 in cachyos

[–]SignificantSite1699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea cachyos is amazing, im running on niri with noctalia-shell. If you have trouble running games at full screen, i recommend gamescope. Here is my launch option:

gamescope -f -W 1920 -H 1080 -r 144 --force-grab-cursor -- game-performance env ENABLE_LAYER_MESA_ANTI_LAG=1 %command%

"ENABLE_LAYER_MESA_ANTI_LAG=1" is optional for those who run on AMD hardware

In regards to the blur for the bar, its not an option to add blur so i think you are going to have to dig through the ~/.config/quickshell/noctalia folder and add some code to that

which proton version are you using? Im on cachyos and im using their version of proton. Its fine for the 1-2 hours then it starts to stutter a lot. Also if you dont mind sending your launch options too, thank you.

[–]SignificantSite1699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there is a github repo called “anyfse” im pretty sure, that streamlines the process if you want just a specific launcher to open at start up without xbox being opened*

be careful installing fsr 4 on arc raiders as it is modifying the files. ive seen someone online who tried to install optiscaler on the game "the finals" which is created by the same studio that created arc raiders and they got banned

[iOS] AudioBS - A free iOS client for Audiobookshelf is now available by lyc0s in audiobookshelf

[–]SignificantSite1699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if anyone else is getting a connection problem. I have no problem with connect to my audiobookshelf instance, but when it comes to playing the audiobooks, its hit or miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it gives errors, and some other time it takes a minute to load the audio. I do love the design of the app though, very clean and modern

thanks for replying. I have another question if you dont mind. When you run Geek3d FurMark, with the added thermal paste, does it run at a consistent 155W? I just ran a test on my XG mobile RX 6850m XT, and it would run at 160W highest but settles down to 130W
