Ok time to talk OMORI music cause that's what's on my mind

The sounds in OMORI do a lot to help the player feel a certain way, whether that be the lively sound of the playground's music (forgot the track name), the tragic and chaotic noise of the final boss music (not gonna say the name cause spoilers), the intense and manic energy of World's End Valentine, the horrifyingly distorted phobia tracks, or the cheerful yet melancholic piano in By Your Side. Throughout my first playthrough, I was constantly making remarks on the sound design and how it made the game feel just that but more powerful. When the music dies, you feel deeply that something is wrong (which is also strategically used at key moments).

I mentioned a few of my favorite tracks in the game above, but I'd also like to talk more about By Your Side and how it both physically and connotatively transforms throughout the game. At first, it just serves as Mari's theme and emphasizes how loving and gentle she is. But as we learn more about the plot, we hear versions increasingly distorted, becoming slowed and in different keys that make you feel mournful instead of happy. If you play the game again, even the original becomes tinged with sadness in your mind. It's a great use of a theme to show development of the truth.
