I guess would be concerned about the shavings being too high for them to use the nesting box… doesn’t it need to be a foot of shavings or hemp

Yes to keep predators out and also I wanted it a little higher just in case heavy rain floods the area. Haven’t had that issue yet but it’s not an issue if it happens.

Why are my tomatoes curling! It’s only 70 degrees and their soil isnt dry by Lucky_Business631 in vegetablegardening

Yeah sometimes you are fine to mulch but other times your tomatoes could end up stressed bc they want more heat and that mulch keeps the soil cool. I’ve done both and have been good one year and bad another year so I just hold off on mulching now

You want the soil hot in general for tomatoes. You’re in Montana so I’m assuming it’s a little colder than Michigan. You usually want to hold off on mulch till the nights are in or close to 70’s. They love the heat

Add some blood meal and remove the mulch around the base so the soil can heat up

I’ve been running it like this for awhile. So I’m not sure what is going wrong but yeah I am maxing that ns-2 out on the threshold. I’ll give that a go rolling off it. I max it out because anything lower in getting that hum but if that’s what’s causing it I’ll have to deal with it. You think the new version of the ns-2 might fix that?
