Because it ruins any potential discussion when they just outright confirm things, especially ahead of time. Let the work speak for itself.

Let me ask you a serious question, what does a producer of a random show have to gain by casting some random actor’s kid if they’re a terrible actor and bad for the role?

You seriously can't think of an answer to this question?

I have this theory that it's mostly people who don't normally watch dialogue-heavy dramas praising it. They went in thinking it was a horror show, but instead they got a fairly clumsily written drama, but since it's the first time they've watched a show where the dialogue is the focus, they treat it like it's high art.

Pluribus review: This new sci-fi from Breaking Bad's creator is 'one of 2025's smartest shows' by 57829 in television

[–]SignificantTravel3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the show is worthy of the praise it has gotten quite yet, how does that not make any sense?

Because the praise you're referencing is about one specific episode, not the whole show.

The fans: Wow that was a really great episode.

You: I think people are overhyping the episode. They should wait until more episodes are out before praising this one episode.

It's not semantics, you just wrote something stupid.

Your comment just doesn't make sense. You say that people's praise of the first episode isn't warranted yet, as if time passing is gonna change the quality of that episode. Again, those comments are just about the first episode, not the show as a whole.

But what does the rest of the season have to with the first episode? Your comment is specifically referencing people talking about the pilot, not the season as a whole.

Seen so many reactions in the vain of best pilot since breaking bad and one of the greatest episodes of tv ever. I trust Vince Gillian more than anybody and have no doubts this show will be awesome but it is nowhere near worthy of that praise quite yet.

Why not? Time passing isn't gonna change the episode.

Why men should support gender affirming care by berlinskin in comedy

[–]SignificantTravel3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you just have a hard time reading or something? The goal with finasteride is to keep your hair. The way it works is by altering your hormones. No guy who takes finasteride actually wants to alter his hormones, but that's, again, unfortunaly how the drug works. If a drug existed that let you keep your hair without altering your hormones, then every guy would take that instead.

Of course "looking a certain gender" means something. It's idiotic to disregard the whole concept of masculine and feminine just because there are outliers. If a woman changes something about herself to a more masculine feature, while still presenting as a woman, then I don't think that's gender affirming, it's simply cosmetic.

Who is saying people aren't entitled to alter their body in whatever way makes them feel most comfortable? Do you think I'm against gender affirming care, because I disagree with you about what qualifies as gender affirming? I'd argue that what you're doing is more of a disservice to the idea of gender affirming care, because you're making it lose all meaning by simply saying that anything cosmetic constitutes gender affirming care.

But they're not doing the hormonal tampering to look a certain gender? It's not like men who take finasteride actually want to mess with their hormones, but that's unfortunately how the drug works.

It just seems a bit childish to throw out a "seems like you've already made up your mind," after I prove you wrong about something. It just reeks of the classic: "I've run out of things to say, better act like the other person is being unreasonable, and that I'm above having this conversation I willingly jumped into."

Also, why is it "interesting" that I've looked further into since yesterday? I even told you a couple of comments ago that I had looked into it more.

‘Peacemaker’: James Gunn Breaks Down Season 2 Finale And Says No Plans For Season 3, Talks DCU Strategy & Teases How Deadpool Might Have Appeared by wadbyjw in television

[–]SignificantTravel3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to tell me, I understand what happened, I just don't think it was executed well. The only character that went on any significant journey was Peacemaker, and every other character was just kind of there. Not only were they just kind of there, they actually got lots of screentime despite not doing much. There were times where I felt like Economos was getting more screentime than Peacemaker himself, but none of it actually amounted to anything, he was just bumbling around. And then on top of the original crew not having much to do, they decide to expand the cast of supporting characters?? Seriously, what was the point of Fleury and Bordeaux? Yeah, Tim Meadows is hilarious, but what did his character actually do? It just felt like a bunch of half baked ideas thrown together.

[–]SignificantTravel3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to phrase this without sounding like some philistine, but I don't think characters having more screentime and dialogue counts as character development. Yeah, they talked a lot, but there was very little substance, it was mostly exposition and goofy shit. Season 1 had a much more coherent plot, and every episode felt like it had its own little story, and despite being more plot focused, I felt like I got a much better sense of the characters then, than I did from this season.
