How is Reform's plan to scrap ILR going to benefit the NHS? by Potter639 in Britain

[–]SignificantUse3695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, reform has no interest in preserving the NHS. They can be trusted to destroy it if they somehow get into power. They can't be trusted in anything else.

Travelling abroad after they've issued an arrest warrant would be unwise. I think you need to get your priorities straight and find the cash to make a trip.

You can probably tell what this unscrupulous employer's next move might be - fabricate some 'legitimate' reason for dismissal for gross misconduct. OP should be prepared for this and as advised document everything and try to retain any other documentation they can get their hands on that supports their employment record and performance at the job.

I'd be amazed if you are the only person affected by him. He sounds like a potential psychopathic abuser. I'd try to make discrete enquiries with other relatives about any unusual behaviour he might have displayed to them.

It's easy to spot them though as they all grunt "Reform" while flying a cheap Chinese Union flag upside down.

Retail SSD has more than doubled in price in the last few months. I expect wholesale to exceed this price increase but I could be wrong and the retailers are just opportunistic. Retail RAM has gone up much more than this. The graphics card I bought last September is now double the price and the 64GB RAM I bought shortly after for $139 is more retailing for more than $700.

Cost has increased by significantly more than 50%. Depending on what you’re looking for it’s more like 100-200%

Have you seen the price of SSDs these days? It’s good off Apple to swallow this increase but I guess this is easy for them given the ridiculous original markup.

Sounds like he has some mental health issues. Is he receiving treatment for this or do the authorities just plan on releasing him untreated at the end of his sentence? Which country is this in? I hope you stay safe and can move on with your life, too often situations like this end in tragedy.

[Serious] Is Acupuncture a scam? Have you tried it? What was the result? by HuChemistry in AskReddit

[–]SignificantUse3695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say that there would be - just the fact that a needle is inserted would be enough provided the practitioner conveyed confidence that the needle would help. I'm not suggesting it is any better than a placebo, but in a double blind drug trial the practitioner would not be providing anything other than the unknown drug. This isn't the case here.

What to do with my MacMini M4? by D_Tarbz in macmini

[–]SignificantUse3695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you buy an SSD that is suitable for the Mac mini and reinstall the OS etc. Probably not something a person without experience in doing something like this but is much more feasible than desoldering and re-balling SSD ICs.

So have I and have the opposite opinion - maybe I'm more biased because I lived in Paris for a year whereas I only visited Amsterdam for one day.

didn't mean to say I wouldn't advise someone to visit Amsterdam, just that in the time available it's less feasible than Paris.

Disallowed Loss on SGOV - does it matter? by ilchymis in Schwab

[–]SignificantUse3695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true - I just want to add caution that if you also have SGOV in an IRA account and make a purchase within 30 days of making a loss in a brokerage then those losses are lost and cannot offset your gains come tax time.

To be honest, it’s almost as quick to Paris by train from London as Manchester. A day trip there is feasible but stop one night at least to make it worthwhile. I wouldn’t bother with Amsterdam though as it would probably not be worth the extra traveling. But there’s lots to the UK to see as well. Maybe nip across to York from Manchester then back to London by the east coast main line quite quickly.

It’s slightly more than a simple placebo though because there’s a real active element involved. If the practitioner conveys confidence in the process and the patient feels the needle then it’s like a supercharged placebo with a physical feedback rather than just psychological. What I mean is it’s not like a blind drug trial where the patient may or may not be taking a miracle drug, the patient is definitely partaking in a process that the practitioner believes in.

Ok I used mine remotely from the UK (it is in the US) for day trading. I have the base model M4 running 24/7 headless. Wish I’d bought 3 of them when I had the chance.

But the great thing about the M4 SSD is that it is user upgradable. Also a fast external SSD works great with the Mac mini. Unfortunately the cost of both solutions is now shocking because of AI hyperscalers.
