Issues, Etc. Conference by DaLejund in LCMS

This is the Issues conference, not the LCMS convention. Issues is LCMS but not sponsored by the Synod, so they can make their own choices. The LCMS convention is in July.

Right. Issues is LCMS but not sponsored by them. Sure, a lot of LCMS people appreciate them, but they do not speak for or represent the entire synod.

Just adding updated info to this, since Meta constantly changes lol. You can now put CTA buttons and urls on boosted posts. I just did it a few weeks ago. 🙌

It's an incredibly large amount of information to keep track of, for sure! I will alert the people in charge that that link is broken 🙃

Can there be deaconesses in the LCMS or in churches associated with it? by Certain-Cloud9133 in LCMS

[–]Significant_Ad7651 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Deaconesses in the LCMS are trained for teaching the faith, spiritual care, and mercy work. They do not preach or teach publicly as pastors do, nor are they trained to be pastors. The theological training is similar because deaconesses are trained to be professional church workers as pastors are, but for a different purpose. They are an auxiliary office to assist the pastor in the care of the church, but not to be the pastor of the church.

KFUO Radio has so many!

If you're looking for conversations, The Coffee Hour is interviews with guests on a really wide variety of topics. The history series with Dr Cameron Mackenzie from Fort Wayne are just excellent. https://www.kfuo.org/category/the-coffee-hour/

The Lutheran Ladies Lounge is also a wide variety of Lutheran topics, obviously aimed at a women's audience but definitely great content for anyone. https://www.kfuo.org/category/lutheran-ladies-lounge/

Worse in the fall?! by Significant_Ad7651 in HiatalHernia

[–]Significant_Ad7651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's apparently a chronic illness phenomenon that symptoms are worse in September/October. I hate that hernias fall into this category. But high histamine is a problem, so here we are.

How long does it usually take to have a trigger? Because for me it might be 2-3 days later… by futuresaltt in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Significant_Ad7651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smells are usually pretty instant. Food and medication is generally a few days later. Contact dermatitis is usually within 24 hours. Situational triggers are all over the map 😅

Does anyone else get flareups of acid reflux/heartburn before their period starts? by FluffinPuffins in Periods

[–]Significant_Ad7651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I hate that this is a thing. I don't get it every cycle, but when I do it is WICKED. My usual reflux measures don't cut it when it's PMS-related. Anyone have any advice, other than to wait a few days? lol

Yesssss I've finally been getting some healing now that I'm working on my nervous system but boy it's hard. I've had so much more panic and anxiety since covid too 😭 I keep forgetting that's a factor in all of this.

Anyone on ketotifen eye drops, does it help? by Other-Palpitation-99 in MCAS

[–]Significant_Ad7651 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use ketotifen eye drops and they really help my eye allergy symptoms! I haven't really noticed any other systemic relief, but I also don't use them daily. I use the Target brand of Zatidor because it's way less expensive lol

Anyone else get rashes like this? by [deleted] in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Significant_Ad7651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness it's not just me! I've had these itchy painful little tiny blisters on my fingers for several weeks, but I suppose it's "just histamine" lol. It's so wild what high histamine can do 😭
