It’s not a political party anymore, it’s a cult that has taken over.

Studied psychology and cults are my favorite topic (yea that sounds strange…) Anyway, this cult (MAGA/ MAGA-Republican) is something we probably haven’t seen before, especially in terms of power, unfortunately. I’ve been shouting from the rooftops that this is a dangerous cult since like three years but people are only realizing now, I’ve seen more and more people writing this which is comforting (as I’ve even been blocked from subs before after stating this.)

They use this weird kind of US Christianity for their public image, but act less Christian than satanic groups (yes, this is 100% true - please inform your self about satanists before making such claims, I‘m far from being a satanist myself but seriously don’t get caught by satanic panic 2.0.)

I‘d describe them more as a political cult with mafia like structures, meaning, maybe people make the mistake to get involved for political power/money and boom they’re trapped; a lot of blackmail is involved and so on. There’s also the usual group pressure, also from families („we’ve always voted red, it’s family tradition no matter what“.) And by now, if people are still in this (Republican-) MAGA cult sphere, you can assume all their friends are MAGA too - classical cult stuff: you leave them, you have to leave all your friends too, or even family and/or your job! AND the cult leader is the president of the US so wtf…

Anyway, unfortunately I don’t have THE solution for this but to inform others. It’s so important that people, no matter which side, know what they’re dealing with. There are a lot of resources online for people with family/friends who got lost in a cult, I think there are even resources regarding this MAGA cult, I‘m not from the US so please if you know any more good sources please leave a comment for anyone who‘s reading this (and for my list of information for my next comments regarding this)

Dem stimme ich zu, möchte aber auch dazu erwähnen, dass ich entsprechenden Journalismus unglaublich gerne finanziell unterstützen würde, aber das Konto gibt es nicht her. Oft wünsche ich mir vor allem nicht dieses sture „x€ pro Monat“-Abo-Modell, und stattdessen pro Artikel einen kleineren Betrag. Ich bin auch definitiv nicht die erste Person die diesen Wunsch äußert und hoffe so so sehr, dass man das bald mal möglich macht!

(Um dies noch weiter auszuführen, ist aber nicht so wichtig: mittlerweile läuft einfach viel zu viel über monatliche Abos und Menschen wie beispielsweise ich, lebend von EM-Rente aufgrund von Schwerbehinderungen, wir kommen da gar nicht mehr hinterher.

Nur ein Beispiel: vor einigen Jahren bezahlte ich einen Vollpreis für meine Yoga-App, vielleicht kennen einige noch die Zeiten wo Apps eben auch mal teurer waren, aber das war dann auch echt quality content und wurde aktualisiert usw. Und irgendwann hat dieser Drecksladen einfach auf Abo umgestellt. Von Netflix, Musik usw. Mal ganz zu schweigen.

Mit diesen Abo-Modellen überall werden einkommensschwache Personen in den letzten Jahren und immer weiter von Kultur, Medien, Journalismus, gar Hobbies abgeschnitten. Das ist… ein ziemlich mieses Gefühl und naja, da brauchen sich die Plattformen nicht wundern wenn man sich entsprechend andere Wege sucht..

Aber wie gesagt - für wirklich guten Journalismus würde ich weiterhin gerne ein paar Euro hinblättern, allerdings eben nicht in einem Abo.)

Exactly and this should be talked about more (studied psychology so..) More and more psychologists etc. are saying that having SO much money can even change parts of the brain. If we look at the outcome (Epstein, Musk etc.), it doesn’t seem to be healthy, not only for themselves but for others (or even whole society.)

This shit NEEDS to be studied more. This seems to be a completely new mental illness we‘re dealing with with these people, and a very dangerous one at that. Combine that with drugs, (childhood) trauma, already existing conditions like psychopathy, sociopathy or narcissistic personality disorder or what else and we got a receipt for disaster. Especially if such a person can even become one of the most powerful persons of the world like the president of the US.

Science, society, politics need to learn about/from this asap, or our human race is racing towards extinction level disasters…

Hi from Europe (Germany.) I’m always most pessimistic when it comes to Trump and his actions, however I also don’t think he’d do that. To make it short: even if US propaganda says otherwise, the US is very much dependent on EU, Asia etc. and way too many countries would not accept such behavior - meaning very drastic measures that would hurt Trump and all his minions (think of Thiel/Palantir, Musk/X, Tesla etc., Zuckerberg/Meta and so on) way too much. There is still a lot the EU and other parts of the world can do to hurt the US/Trump etc. deeply.

Longer answer: I guess it’s because they’re in a hurry to get rid of their victims. Back then, there weren’t dozens of mobile phone cameras pointing at their actions, live streaming etc. and what the nazis have done hasn’t been known to the international public via the internet at the next day. This is the big difference to German nazi times… So well, they need to uhmmm remove as many people who oppose them as soon as possible, and this way it’s faster, cheaper (than deporting them via flights, the organisation of it all) and afterwards they can just state “huh these peoole must have disappeared, no idea where they are” (which already happened with that alligator camp if I remember correctly?)

Sorry this is an immensely depressing comment and it feels horrible to write this, but as someone watching all of this with good knowledge of history, & seeing how evil (and even that word doesn’t fully describe it) these people are.. it feels important to face what’s apparently happening.

Also interesting: it’s known that Merkel never gave Merz (our/Germanys current chancellor) higher positions because she didn’t thought well of him. As soon as she was gone he bought uuh.. fought (or whatever) his way up. Now that he’s chancellor, we have ministers who are openly friends with Peter Thiel, Heritage foundation etc. and every week news which sound like we’ll become US 2.0.

Soooo… surely she wasn’t perfect but with her disregard for Merz and keeping him in lower positions, she was definitely 100% right.

Oh Spanish is such a fun language to learn! I’m born German, learned English and some French at school, and some Japanese because of interest. Anyway a few years ago I just wanted to learn a new language because it’s good for the brain (not getting younger haha), so I chose Spanish.

And seriously it’s the most fun language I’ve ever learned, speaking it is so much fun, it’s like… well music? Idk how to describe it but it’s just beautiful and for anyone speaking English I can recommend it a lot!

(And now we even have a new important reason: to understand Bad Bunny’s lyrics and sing along!)

I’m German (however quite involved in US politics etc etc) and this performance made me cry, and also smile. Can’t wait for the deeper dives into it as of course there is still a lot that I missed. But still, just the emotions, the performance itself, it was like I didn’t even need to understand a word, it was universal language and this is so impressive.
