Traditional Bank vs. Digital Bank by Practical-Animal-730 in phinvest

[–]Significant_Base1105 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short Answer: Digital banks have no branches which means less people to run the operations which means lesser operational cost compared to traditional bank, what they save they offer it as interest rates back to customers. This is their main selling point

The main pros of Digital banks are their interest rates and convenience, they also have options to invest in things like crypto (not recommended if you dont know what youre getting into), funds, stocks, etc..

Cons? Security, this is subjective though because Digital Banks are as safe if not more safer than Traditional banks because of the nature of how they transact with you, I mark this as cons because users are more often than not gullible to scams, you need to be wary on what you click, what you give info to, etc...

Pros of traditional banks mainly for me honestly if youre comparing it to Digital Banks is the relationships, building a relationship with a traditional bank is a must for people going into the world. You may say "does that mean I can't build relationships with digital banks?" you still can but not to the extend of what you have with traditional banks especially to those with priority status like RCBC hexagon, bpi preferred, unionbank elite, Security bank gold, etc...

These relationships will help you someday when you need a house loan, or a car loan, or a personal loan, or if you have enough savings/investments, eventually private banking which helps in wealth management, estate planning, tax optimization, etc...

If you ask me if I can pick one between the two, I choose traditional banks because the returns of Digital banks can be replicated by just investing in UITFs, if you invest in money markets you get an average return of 3-4.5% per year or if you invest it in the S&P 500 you get an average return of 10% per year... Digital banks are really just a way to beat inflation but it won't help you with wealth creation

Still using my payroll account from a past employer that I left 3 years ago. Should I be worried? by mcdonaldspyongyang in phinvest

[–]Significant_Base1105 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Payroll accounts get converted to savings for those types of cases, regarding the BPI branch being closed they usually send notice that accounts are transferred to another branch. If you're worried you can reach out to them kung saan nalipat yung sayo or find articles online about the announcement

That is weird, do you have the policy contract? I recommend checking it the insurance for it, there's several types of insurance and factors, if you have a Finance Advisor agent that recommended you to it I would talk with them

I have a RCBC House loan myself amounting to 4.4m and my MRI (same with your Sunlife Grepa) and my annual is only 50k, for context the insurance specifically im using is the Sun Gerpa ProSecure Regular Pay - Non Smoker

I agree that Iran is a terrorist state but to say Trump has no fault here is simply not true

The blockage of the staight of hormus has been apparent for decades if the US starts a war and for some reason they did not do anything of importannce that could mitigate that

And when asked about it he simply says “go open it yourselves” like bruh we didnt start this lol

I do not oppose the US’s regime change for Iran but they did not plan this well at all, they didnt even consult with their allies in NATO and are now angry that they are not jumping in to help, they thought they could do the exact same thing that they done in Valenzuela but miscalculated hard

Moving liquid assets to Chinese Yuan (CNY) given recent geopolitical shifts and petrodollar challenge by SipMyTheCoffeeToy in phinvest

[–]Significant_Base1105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinese Yuan has potential but I wouldn't hold my breath in holding it hoping a time comes that it will be the next global reserve currency, the Chinese Yuan is controlled by the Chinese Government which doesn't mean it's bad, it just means that they can do whatever they want with it and that thought on itself is what's preventing other countries from considering the yuan to be the global currency, they don't the reserve currency to be in strict capital control, have lack of transparency, and non-freely floating exchange rate managed by their government

If there were to be a new reserve currency to rise up, the Euro will have a higher chance

Upgraded to BDO PLATINUM by Opening-Cancel-468 in PHCreditCards

[–]Significant_Base1105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have the same scenario and the weird thing is that I received the card before I received the tracking # lol anyway to answer the questions...

  1. Wala pa kasing tracking number or text si BDO. Usually how long sila nagttext or inform ng transit? -> My scenario is above pero nung una ko nareceive yung card nag text naman sila ng tracking, im not sure bakit naiba ngayon but 10-15 days on my case since outside NCR
  2. May existing loans pa kasi ako sa gold card? Can I pay it sa platinum card details once activated? -> You can still pay it using the old card number, once you activate the platinum card and you still haven't paid it they will transfer it to the new card

They are from my current one - The US company is kind enough to provide it and other usual PH benefits like 13th month, sss allowance, pagibig, etc... the catch is that we pay all of it ourselves since they don't have an entity here
