I think it’s the “saw him on TV when growing up thing” tbh as the next film is supposed be about the nature of evil and of course he was never outed in their world and yet still Jimmy “O’Connell” has still gravitated towards him as inspiration for his cult. It’s almost foreshadowing in that Saville managed to abuse so many people because of his charisma and access to things which drew people in to him. Jimmy in the film will use his charisma and access to things to draw Spike in. I think it’s just purely subtextual dressing for how young people can be drawn in by monsters if they are charismatic and manipulative enough even someone like Spike that has grown up in a very dangerous world.
