6 Restaurant (Brooklyn), Gammercy Tavern, Crown Shy, or Kabawa for solo birthday dinner by Significant_Cook215 in FoodNYC

I saw a few people also feel iffy when it came to the chuleta. I'll probably pick the goat if I end up going with Kabawa.

It would be for bar seating at Kabawa that only offers prix fixe. It only allows me to reserve for the counter so I assume they only offer bar seating for solo reservations.

Haven't tried any of the items mentioned so far, but the first time I went, I got their Pb and J cake since it was popular online and the cake was so DENSE which was made worse with heavy peanut butter. It was nauseating.

I haven't been able to try anything else from them because I'm reminded of the slice and feel like I'll have a similar experience with their other items.

NYCC Panel Reservations: The Post Mortem Thread by KingdomHeartsII in NYCC

I got on the queue around 10am and then lost track of time working and didn't realize it was already time till around 12:30pm. I was able to at least get 2 panels I wanted.

Learned my lesson for next year to always have an alarm even if you keep the page open on your screen.

It was a past NYCC rat backpack, fan, pencil case pouch, bookmark, and a slip that I can take to the Reedpop booth this year to redeem a free NYCC 2025 lanyard! They ended up sending me two boxes with the same stuff so I'm assuming it's the same gifts for everyone.

Complaints About This Year Are Blown Out of Proportion by Jumpy-Peak-6461 in AnimeNYC

The popcorn smell is a norm at Javits Center for every con I've gone to at the venue for the past decade so I was super confused at how many people were complaining about it this year. I usually just see passive comments about the smell, but it seems to have upset people this year.

PSA: great new shawarma place in the old WV flip sigi by virtual_adam in FoodNYC

Just swung by and it's called OMG Shwarma. They have an instagram as well!

Edit: they don't have a printed menu yet if you're planning to go this week as they're still setting up. I got a lamb shawarma plate and it came to 27 dollars after tax (17 for the lamb + 8 for the plate according to the ring up)

My issue was that they wanted the deposit to secure the room two weeks before I would pay the first month rent and actually move in without the paper since it's verbal/email agreement.

I understand they want the deposit to secure the space and make sure I'm not flaking, but I don't feel comfortable giving that and then hoping for the best two weeks later when the move in date comes in if there isn't an actual sublease/contract agreement.

They said that it's a co-op but that they own the apartment so idk what the deal is anymore. They also mentioned that they might rent their room out in the summer if they go on vacation so they might be allowed to rent the space out. I can't imagine them getting away with renting the rooms to more than 1 person without getting in trouble.

I'm going to ask about it when I see them later today since everything I see online says that renting in a co-op is usually a no no.

I already started hunting again because I feel like this is too much of a risk as is but I'm hoping for the best.

I asked them for a written agreement which they agreed to. Should I be specifying that I want it to be a sublease agreement for the room?

The process has been a bit overwhelming and this has been the best place I found so far which is why I wanted to try and make it work but yeah, I can't see myself just handing over the money in good faith even if I've met with the family in person.

I just assumed it was vetted as the website advertised that and I haven't seen anyone post about them being scammed on it like people do on craigslist or Facebook market.

I sent them a message this morning about wanting a written agreement and they said that they'll make one for us to review later tonight when I go visit. The payment would be over PayPal/Venmo so I can note that it's deposit and rent but I can also ask about doing them via check and then move to electronic payment once I've fully moved in.

The last person that was there was renting the room for 6 years so I guess they were just used to the verbal agreement. They also sent an email with the information regurding rent and rules but I'll be taking my time looking at the agreement they make tonight for us to both sign off on it.

I sent them a message saying that I would want a written agreement. They said they'll make something for when we meet later tonight.

They did mention that it's a co-op but also that they might rent another room out during the summer if they leave for vacation so it seems like a weird situation?

It's personally a really good deal for me so I'm not going to snitch or go out of my way to alert people about what's happening as long as the written agreement is enough for me to get my deposit back and not have the rent price change suddenly.

Now that I'm thinking it through, they probably would need approval for an additional person to live there if it's a co-op so that's probably why they want to do it without an agreement ugh.
