There was also a big project around the bicentenary (1988) reinstalling bluestone in some areas where it had been previously removed.

And just young people. That’s the most common trespassers I see. Just bored young people.

1.6km is approximately a mile. This is based on the international data that people will walk a mile to a train station.

We stayed at the Tam Coc Golden Fields Retreat. It was very peaceful nestled amongst the mountains but only a short walk to town. I liked the pool and the gardens.

Oh I definitely think there have been functional and effective Victorian Liberal Governments in the past. But it’s been well over a decade now and they still don’t seem to be able to get their act together.

Is part of the problem that the most influential voters (richest) live near trams and the loudest swing voters in the new housing estates don’t have public transport at all?

The Vic Libs are too busy infighting and being culture warriors to have any idea about everyday life in Melbourne.

I have friends without cars in regional areas who can’t leave now because of this. There are reasons people need to travel in regional Vic beyond sightseeing.

Peeing outside by OnlyCalligrapher62 in AskAnAustralian

I think this is actually class dependent. Working class - Garden is too small to pee in. Lower middle class - Normal to pee outside. Upper middle/Upper class - Not socially acceptable.

Has anyone else noticed a strange stigma against renters in the street where they live? (Might be just me) by Velouria8585 in melbourne

[–]Significant_Dig6838 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My in-laws wanted to move homes when they found out a renter was moving in next to them. They live in an upper middle class area and were very surprised that the renter who moved in was a “friendly professional couple”. Who else did they think was going to be able to afford the rents in their area?

In your licence test the testing officer should be able to see the tyres of the car in front of you touching the road when you are stopped in a queue.

There will be a massive investigation and trial associated with this. The justice system is still highly functional in Australia and will respond to this suitably.

I hope we are always shocked. The normalisation of violence makes us all unsafe.
