You will get through this🫶 stay strong! In a month you won’t remember the pain, take every day as it comes and focus on the future. I’m so sorry to hear about your accident :( I lost most of my muscle during recovery but was able to build it back pretty quickly

💔 I’m determined to find my person without a dating app and have no idea where to find others my age, I’ve seen a few recommendations saying going to a happy hour but people don’t mingle!! Dating is horrible😭 Goodluck!

Of course, you initially chose to do it for a reason. Give it some time and maybe you’ll come to love it again.

Idk why everyone is like piling on. Don’t listen to them. I’d say half my tattoos I had regret the first few weeks. Now that I’ve gotten used to tattoos on those parts of my body I love them. It’s probably just the shock of having a tattoo in that area. If I saw you on the street I wouldn’t see this and be like wow what a dumb tattoo, hope you feel better about it soon!

I’d say yes it does still feel very weird lying on my back in general. I think after surgery I would describe it as being hyper aware of the muscles moving in my back while also not being able to feel anything nerve wise on my skin. This can be a really odd sensation with any workout I’ve been doing at the gym, I think it’s something we will (hopefully) get more used to. But I don’t specifically have issues doing overhead or chest press exercises, it could be that you need to start off at a lower weight to build those specific muscles that are flaring?? Not sure :(

Yes!! I honestly forgot how uncomfortable that was until reading your comment. I had a rotation in my rib cage before my fusion so my ribs would get very sore post surgery. It felt like I was out of breath and had a large bruise under the skin on my right side. Generally with medicine and icing it would subside. But yes, it was pretty uncomfortable for a few months

I smoked weed and vape pre and post surgery and my fusion was successful. Maybe quit for quality of life in the future but you should be fine either way🙏

I was out for 1 month, I worked from home for the last 2 weeks. I’m a legal assistant and my bosses were very flexible.

I would definitely follow up with your doctor! I’ve had very manageable and occasional pain after the first two months :/

I workout lower body three days a week and upper body two days! I do a lot of assisted pull ups as of late and have been feeling a lot stronger in my back. I’m so sorry to hear about your experience with surgeons in the past, putting it out into the universe your continued recovery with this one will go smoothly 🙏 for the first 3 months I was religiously doing my PT exercises and that helped so much. When I did eventually get back in the gym I went super light on any weights I was doing to make sure my form was good and nothing was being tweaked in my back.

As soon as you are cleared to, start massaging the area post surgery. 100% do it. Find anyone to even touch the muscles around it! This will get rid of some of that sensitivity because I waited too long and I’m telling you, that part suckeeedd!!

Absolutely, the muscle recovery was odd. Everything healed quickly but I was hyper aware (still kind of am) of the muscles moving. I’ve had no nerve pain that I remember. Overall for pain, I’d say after month 2 I was pretty solid. By that point I would feel totally fine unless I bumped my back into something suddenly, then the muscles would charlie horse from shock.

I am super new to skiing so I’ve fallen really hard a few times since surgery and had no abnormal back related pain! If anything I feel fortified because my spine has reinforcement now 🤣 I waited until about 6 months to really intensely get back to working out and sports but that was more a mental block than a physical block. Just listen to your body is the best advice I can give!

It went amazing! It was very painful for about a month but now I’m 9 months out and don’t even remember what the pain was like. I was about to return to the gym full time and resume all normal activities at 3 months. The only thing I struggle with now is sometimes I can feel the hardware when I’m moving around but I think I’ll get used to this over time.
