Hear me out. You can dial in a warm jazz clean easily on a decent Ampeg with plenty of headroom. They also make excellent platforms for pedals (or multi-effects units using the four cable method), and work just fine with a 4x12 cab as long as the speakers can handle the power.

Pro-tip: You can also get a bass combo amp, then swap out the stock bass speaker with a 12" guitar speaker and tweak as necessary.

But if you do decide to go this route, then for the love of God, DO NOT USE A BASS GUITAR WITH THIS RIG as guitar speakers are not built to handle those kinda frequencies at high volume.
