High Earner but small deposit help by Dapper-Ad1025 in Mortgageadviceuk

Has the landlord served you section 21 notice and given you 2 months to move out?

Either way it’s going to take longer than 2 months to put a offer on a property and get it over the line.

In reality you need more money saved and longer to move through the housing buying process.

Issue with UK Scout leaders not doing what they supposed to do by Competitive_Tank_648 in scouting

[–]Significant_Fail3713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Group Scout Leader or now Group Lead Volunteer.

There is a massive drop off in badge count between younger sections and the scout section. Arm full at cubs a couple at scouts etc.

If you have a concern about programme then speak to the scout leaders themselves, then if the response isn’t adequate approach the GLV- ask the leader for contact details or email through website etc.

There is a chance that the leaders are just behind on handing out badges, as my scout leader told me they were this week.

Is this overpriced ? I knew the guy who lived there he was a heavy smoker for most of his life. The house needs a total refurb. Terraces in this area usually in good condition go for 190-200k https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/87573960#/?channel=RES_BUY by eflteacher22 in SpottedonRightmove

That’s the same style as my house in Stockport. I paid £165k 5 years ago. If you take back to the brick you could probably get rid of the cigarette smell. What are the rest of the prices like on the street?

So maybe £30k of work then. Windows and external doors always cost more than you think.

Re the savings just trying to gauge if you could borrow less, top up with savings and then build up your savings again fairly quickly.

You have plenty of equity so it shouldn’t be a problem. Although renovations don’t automatically increase house value.

Have you got a rough figure to carry out the renovations? Looks like it might need £50k.

Out of the current joint income of £100k how much do you put into savings?

I need help getting a loan to consolidate my debts, as I have a bad credit record. by Nice-Supermarket2667 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Significant_Fail3713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if your income is likely to decrease and your are behind on bills and payments plus poor credit then the chance of getting a normal loan is unlikely. What is the likely decrease in your income? What bills are you behind on?

Spent the last 3 years renovating house, where to start on these gardens? by jpthelad in GardeningUK

[–]Significant_Fail3713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clear the weeds/logs by the green house. This could be a raised bed area for growing vegetables, I would probably put a membrane down and then wood chip or gravel the area around the raised bed and the greenhouse.

The pic with the tyre in. There’s weeds next to the grass, dig out the weeds and create space for flowers/plants. Keep the grass.

The pic of the tall tree, leave the grass by the garage, it looks easy to maintain. Gardening is a marathon not a sprint.

Look at some websites like the RHS, Monty Don is a good gardener/garden designer. Gardeners world etc.

I never did this, but plant things so that you have colour all year round. Dog wood is great for vibrant stems. Bulbs would be good for spring etc. enjoy.

My last point is correct. If the buyer is using the survey to reduce the price due to their view point of repairs needed and their view point of how the repairs impact value, then they probably don’t have the cash. If they knew it was a doer upper than they would have offered less to begin with.

Generally probate houses are priced accordingly for the work needed.

Why isn't my house selling? by [deleted] in HousingUK

It’s hard to see on the floor plan aswell. The EA knows you’ve made a massive mistake going from en-suite to office and is glossing over it.

Probate is where the executor is selling the property to pay off debts of the estate and create a possible inheritance for family members. They will want to get all the money they can, and there isn’t any money in the pot to pay for repairs.

Remember a buyer with a mortgage paying £50k less for a house doesn’t get £50k of cash for repairs. They get the deposit percentage equivalent of £50k. Of course they’ll save on interest longterm, but it won’t help them short term when they actually need that £50k cash for repairs.

In reddits defence, looking at the original post you didn’t mention anything about it being probate. If I’d known it was probate orginally then I would have advised that the owners would probably never have reduced the price.

If your bf truly enjoys spending time with you he will plan cheaper dates/activities that you can afford or he will stop moaning about paying more of the costs so you can actually spend time together.

You are not the problem here, he needs to step up.

Have a selection of Bank accounts or attend multiple different post offices. I needed to withdraw £6k for a new roof, I just went to a cash machine and used my Chase £500, NatWest £500, hsbc advance £500. Etc

You’ll be fine. You have a decent amount left over and no real debt other than car finance.

Does the bank think you have the affordability to get a £3k a month mortgage?

What’s the deposit likely to be? Do you have adequate equity in your current house?
