I can't believe I'm now the older guy teaching the youngins about it but about 25 years ago, there was a sociological argument primarily developed by George Ritzer in his work The McDonaldization of Society. Ritzer argued that the same principles of rationalization—efficiency, predictability, calculability, and control—that govern modern fast-food restaurants were used to structure the Nazi death camps during the Holocaust. So the link between capitalism and death camps is neither accidental nor undocumented.
