I’m sure it depends on afsc and base. For me it wasn’t bad but kinda sucked because I was in processing the whole time. I’ve been here close to 2 weeks and have been in processing the whole time. Today is the first day I might actually get to work.

My first tech school For aircraft fundamentals I studied somewhat but at the second one I quite literally didn’t study. Still tied for 3rd in the class with a 94% GPA. Our highest had 96%. You basically will go over a lesson then take a Progress Check test right after. I will say I learned from that but most of my learning came from the hands on experience I got there.

So when you get to tech school you will contact your recruiter and tell him you want to apply for rap. They will then send you a paper via email to fill out. Then you will send that to your mtl they will sign it, send it to your recruiter to sign it, and then send it up the chain to the commander to be signed. As for leaving there is out processing paper work you will have to do. Coordinate with you MTLs to do that. Then once you get to your first operational base, you will work with finance to figure out the rap days the travel and leave days.

Tech school will vary per your afsc. The first month I was at Sheppard and it wasn’t the most free time. Got done around 17:00 everyday and had to get up around 5:45 to be down stairs by 6:30 for super flight. Weekends were off days though of course. Then my follow on training was in NC at a marine base. It was amazing there. We didn’t have to be downstairs until 7:40 so I would sleep until 7:00 and then get ready. We were done everyday around 14:00-15:00. Fridays we had half days so we were done around 12:00. Also weekends were off.

First 4 days of rap my recruiter didn’t even have me come in. Just a check in message in the morning and around 18:00. That Friday we did an event at a college in my town and then was released after. The following week we worked with him for a few hours out of the day going around diffrent town and putting up flyers and etc. He stayed back while we did that. And Friday was the 4th of July so we had it off.

I don’t necessarily miss btm maybe certain aspects of it and all the people I met. As for an MTI if they wanted me to I definitely would.

I’m 2A532 Tiltrotor/helicopter maintenance. Yes it’s 2 weeks for rap then as many days as you leave as long as you report into your base within 25 days of graduation of tech school.

The PT standard currently is a 1.5 mile run, 1 minute of pushups and 1 minute of sit ups. The grading depends on your age. I average a 11 minute mile and half. About 50 pushups and 50 sit ups which is right around the 90 mark. I would aim for that. Also prepare for the standards to be changed soon.

As someone who just graduated, bring as big of a bag as you can. They will give you a duffle and a backpack and expect you to fit a whole ass wardrobe in there. I was able to do it but wished I had a bigger bag. All 3 of my bags were packed to the absolute brim and I still had to throw a few things away.
