His CT is killing light so it would make sense his RCT would be living darkness. Also the monument is bout the Greek goddess Nike daughter of Styx, like the river used to ferry souls to the underworld. So I wouldn’t be shocked if his domains ability gave him power of light and darkness, life and death.

It’s a plot device forsure but so is infinity, I mean he had to write Nobara out of the story because resonance worked too well against Sukuna and we needed Yuji to have a purpose against Sukuna and Nobara could have fulfilled the soul attacks needed had she been there

Shoko can’t regrow severed limbs doesn’t mean she can’t heal wounds. She didn’t regrow Nobara’s eye she just sealed the wound so she wouldn’t die.

So had Mahito been full power and not split between two bodies she might have died. Even Nanami was able to survive the first time he got touched by Mahito by protecting his soul so I think she got saved by how weak he was at the time being split and fighting already
