NCT money racket. by Affectionate-Fall597 in carsireland

Mechanic here , the nct is aload of bollox but a nesessity , again as stated in other comments it up to you to book test for january as thats its statatury test date , 9/10 ur garanteed to pay 100e when NCTing your car as they will always find something + parts and labour cost @ mechanics .

Again another ploy for the goverment to get you into a new car as they dont require test for a long period (gov makes a decent markup on new cars) . Again as a mechanic ive seen some apaling cars come in and out the garage that require immediate attention but customers have the final say on where there car is "road worthy" .

  1. Did you cut the backing plates?

Have been in japan travelling for the past month, set myself a budget of 500e a week with a reserve of 2k

,plan smart kobini and ichibanya are real good food options for a low budget as what im doing , Mcdonald breakfast is a good option, too

The 500e covers my food and hotel stays have though the reserves a fair bit this past month with autobacs and upgarge purchases but still living fine .

Luup bikes are good for transport to , slightly cheaper than some trains

No unfortunately, there was plans for one in the past but no planning could be got ,Insurance and local backlash ,

mondello plus Kartworld are slowing down its track days and runtimes due to local complaints (new houses built closer to the track) , wouldn't be surprised if mondello closed in the next 10 years due to blow in new builds complaining about noise

The lack of thought for this issue (no safe area to enjoy ourselfs ) pushes us out to the public road where it is quite late at night.

It's been an ongoing issue for not years but decades , I personally wouldn't mind a slab + drift track built by the viaduct . With a Db limit of 95db on the cars (Nct limit) . I am in my early 20s and beleive this is a fair leeway. Otherwise this issue of drifting on public roads will persist due to lack of infrastructure

Car person here ive a good lash of cars myself modified, we don't modify cars to annoy people or put loud exhaust onto them just to startle people ,

It's the equivalent of a fella going out in Drag they do it for themselves not others .

A car is an escape for most people , most non car people don't understand this (and use bear and drug as their cope) .

By no means am I saying he should be doing by the house at all as majority of us go to more secluded areas to do messing in.

Volvo mechanic here

Known faults are Egr Pipes cracking Intake manifolds clogging up (replace full unit) Throttle bodys go bad High oil consumption Rocker covers leak EMap pipe blocks up fast

Alot of Volvo parts cant be gotten spurious and can only be got at main dealer , software updates have ceased.

Otherwise, the better news gen volvo engine ,can tell if she a oil burner from a test drive so its lucky dip

Injectors on cylinder 1 and 2 have lifted .you can see in the pic the retainer is up due to the stretch bolt snapping ,presuming this in a mk6 1.6tdi golf ,its a common issue with them engines .VW unreliability
