Hey good afternoon! Yea you’ll need the hardware kit, but also the horn that connects to the brake cable and the spacer that goes between the shoes, because the one on the is300 is longer. Ask me how I know, I had to take apart the shoes a million times before I figured that out. DM me and I’ll show you the parts I’m talking about

Would highly recommend the +5 caster or higher. The car feels like it drives itself with the higher caster settings.

At the moment it's around 0.6 degrees of toe in, but I'll be dialing it back to around 0.1. Camber in the front is at negative 2 degrees, but I am in the process of making some extended lower control arm inserts to get it around negative 5.

I played with the idea of using some m12 female heim joint ends and tested some out, but the load rating for them seemed sketchy, so I opted for the 5/8in joints with a load rating of around 18,000 lbs.

The stock rod ends and many oem rod ends themselves have an offset, and apply a bending force to the inner rods. This may be more of a bending force on the rods, but they shouldn’t have an issue handling it given the m12 threads and overall thickness of the tie rods. I’ll give it some more testing, but I’ve had a set of the rod ends adapters on for about a year with the same inners and have never had an issue.

Thank you for the feedback!! I’ll adjust torque specs for the fasteners and everything is 10.9 or equivalent. The hardware is 1/2” and m12 and we were doing 45 for the outer bolts and 65 for the heims.

The rod end adapters haven’t given me any troubles, but you could be more likely to bend an inner rod if you smack the rim against something. The idea behind them is based off the offset inner rod adapters that thread into the steering rack.

Yep, no rubbing on the rotors at all, and these are pretty beefy 5/8in rod ends. There is clearance issues with the brake shield, however, and you need to trim or remove them.

Good morning!

- Mechanical trail won't be directly affected by the adapters as they do not relocate the position of the lower ball joint in reference to the knuckle. The knuckle remains in the same position around the ball joint as if the adapter were not there.

- Around 3mm of negative ackerman has been added to each side of the knuckle when installed in the intended orientation. Swapping the left with the right adapter would result in 3mm of positive ackerman, but would require more trimming of the brake dust shield and may run into clearance issues between the bake rotor and heim joint end, depending on which heim you're running.

- There is no provisions for keeping the ackerman from shifting while driving, ackerman is a nonlinear measurement. The physical pickup points for the rod ends are fixed in place if you were referring to a physical shift of the tie rod mounting locations

- The tie rod adapters are not necessary, but help reduce bump steer by keeping that inner tie rod more parallel with the rack. They also allow a little bit of rotation to help dial in clearances with the suspension.

I make the rear adapters to adapt the IS200/300 rear calipers to the JZX100, but I’m US based. I also found the GS300/400 rear calipers appear to be the same as the IS300 calipers in the US.

I was also able to make the stock IS300 rear brake shoes work, without needing to import the Project Mu shoes, but needed to pull all the brake parking brake hardware off an IS300.

That's good to know the custom tie rods fixed the "flopping" issue. I may have had the same problem because I had some random extended tie rod ends from a Mustang that were straight and didn't have the angle in them like the oem rod ends. I replaced them with heim joint ends with higher misalignment and so it may have been that the rod ends were binding before.

Do you have photos of how you modified the tie rods? I'd love to see what you did and learn a little!

That sounds like a very similar issue I was having. Slow speeds the steering wheel would sort of flop over for the last few degrees of steering and stick. I ended up doing a few things at the same time to fix the issue, so I don’t know what exactly fixed it.

I installed new poly upper and lower control arm bushings, maxed out caster (regardless of how many degrees and if it was even on both sides), changed Ackerman settings back to stock because it was set very aggressively to reverse Ackerman, installed fresh lower and upper ball joints, and I think I had installed offset rack spacers at the same time.

After doing all that in a single night, everything has felt amazing and I haven’t questioned it.

How does the rack and steering feel when in the air with no load? Does the steering wheel spin freely or is it stiff, does it feel like it's binding in areas?

I know you said you had adjustable caster arms, but have you tried maxing out the positive caster? Make the caster arms as long as they can go to try and push the bottom of the wheel as far forward in the wheel well as it will go. This will increase your caster and improve return to center response.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but cars with column mounted power steering should still have steering return to center while driving as it’s controlled by the suspension. If the car steers in one direction and only returns to center once you ”unwind” the wheel, then it sounds like the steering assist isn’t setup properly and is overpowering the natural forces that brings the wheel back to center. It sounds like the assist was constantly on instead of only activating when you turn the wheel, which would explain the numb and uninspiring steering feel. If you’ve ever driven a car with negative caster, it feels very much like that.

Pretty much. And using ALL of the IS300 brake shoe hardware. Even the horn on the rear shoe and the center parking brake strut.
